Give Yourself Some TLC Post-Lipo
You’ve had the surgery, and you’re on your way home… it’s all done, right? Well… not quite. There is a little thing called ‘aftercare’, and it’s just as important as… any other kind of care! If you want your surgeries to go off without a hitch, then caring for yourself afterwards – and making sure you get the right care from your professionals – really is of the utmost importance.
First off, it’s good to know just what to expect after lipo. It’ll take 1-3 months to fully recover from lipo, though the pain from the op should be gone in about a week or so. In terms of aftercare, there are quite a few things you can do to help yourself heal so much better:
- Make sure you’re drinking plenty of fluids – but avoid alcohol
- Keep the area of the surgery clean, and resist the temptation to apply ice packs – they’ll slow the healing process down
- Change the bandages regularly, or when your surgeon has advised you to
- Don’t expose the operated area to water – this could cause an infection
- Wear light, comfortable garments
- Make sure the pressure garment you wear post-surgery is the right size
- Always keep help at hand!
If you follow this simple advice, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t heal in no time. Of course, this is general advice intended for most people; if your surgeon or consultant has given you more specific advice which may, in some cases, contradict our tips above – always follow your surgeon’s advice!

Under the Skin of Secret Surgery: Emma!
This week, for our exclusive look under the skin of the Secret Surgery team, we’ll be speaking to the lovely Emma Cummings, who is an Aftercare Nurse in Scotland. In other words, for our Scottish patients, once you’re out of the hands of our surgeons and nurses over in Poland, you’ll be in Emma’s good hands!
What is the biggest challenge in your job? “The biggest challenge in my NHS job is to juggle so many hats all at once: nurse, manager, leader, counsellor, and politician – to name but a few! In my aesthetics business the biggest challenge is keeping up to date with such a fast moving clinical area when working in relative isolation from other practitioners.”
What is the best part of your job? “The best part of my job is seeing the difference that I can make to people’s lives and their confidence by using aesthetic techniques such as dermal fillers.”
If you hadn’t worked in cosmetic surgery, what would you have done? “I think I would maybe have gone into the army as a nurse or medic, but secretly I harbour a desire to be a traffic police cop!”
If you could treat yourself to a procedure, what would it be? “If I could treat myself then I would have a blephraplastly as I hate my droopy eyes – and hopefully I will return to Poland in the not too distant future to get this done!”
What do you like to do in your spare time? “I enjoy many sports and in the east I have run marathons – but my dodgy knees don’t allow that any more, so I stick to swimming and reading lots of books!”

So far, we’ve got a healthy mix of previous clients returning to Wroclaw for the magical Christmas market, new patients coming to undergo procedures, and people have pre-op consultations. All guests on the trip will be given an exclusive presentation – by one of our lovely ladies, Trayc Randall – and a tour of the hospital, too!

That’s why we’ve already arranged evening meals, so that all of our guests can enjoy one another’s company and make a few new friends, as well as shopping trips and sightseeing throughout Wroclaw’s beautiful and historic centre.

We’ve also got a few exclusive words from Trayc Randall, pictured above with yummy mummy Kerry Katona. “I’m really looking forward to our break in Wroclaw. I’ll be showing Secret Surgery’s VIPs how to dress their fabulous new bodies in my Body Shape Workshop, and I’ll also be breaking bad style habits for dressing NOW – not then. Euro 2012: WAGs Galore?
This June, Wroclaw is proud to be a host city for a Euro 2012 football match. Here at Secret Surgery’s Wroclaw clinic, we’re based not-so-far away from the stadium, and we’re wondering whether some of the Euro 2012 WAGs might drop by during their visit to Eastern Europe’s sunniest city.
After all, why not head out for an afternoon of pampering and plastic surgery while your bloke gets his kicks on the football field? A holiday is for both partners to enjoy – and treating yourself to a quick nip here and a tiny tuck there is a great way to make a great trip even better.
The world of WAGs is hardly unfamiliar with plastic surgery; a recent article from the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper had an expert plastic surgeon comment on Victoria Beckham’s likely history of surgery, which includes a tip rhinoplasty, and some skin treatment, and Coleen Rooney has before been the subject or rumours about both Botox and boob jobs.
It’s no surprise that some of the world’s most scrutinised women want to be perfect for the cameras, and plastic surgery helps them come closer to that goal. Whether any WAGs will drop through our doors this June, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd., says “It’s wonderful to feel that every day, you’re making someone’s life a little better. Our location in beautiful Wroclaw makes Secret Surgery a fantastic destination for cosmetic surgery holidays; our patients go home with great memories, a fantastic tan, and a stunning new look.”
