We’ve got yet another glowing patient review to share with you all today, and this one comes from the mysterious Mr. Y, from London, who underwent a gynecomasty with us – also known as a male breast reduction procedure. We can add that our enigmatic Mr. Y was of Asian origin, and decided to travel out so see us during Euro 2012 football cup!
So, what made you look around for surgery? “I got tired of having man-boobs and wanted out of the club. I looked at alternatives as surgery really didn’t seem like the most attractive solution. From pills to, well, other pills – nothing seemed like a decent permanent solution. Thus, my search for a surgical option came under way. I looked at the sites online that offer to call you back once you register, and the average price was around £4000 – which was far more than I could afford, so that was that.”
“Somehow, in the middle of all this, I ended up getting in touch with Angela at Secret Surgery – or rather, she got in touch with me. She offered half the price and, such was, by default, in the lead for my custom. Frankly, the feeling of just getting it over and done with overtook my reservations about going for cosmetic surgery abroad.”
And what was it like? “The thing is, though, the hospital I ended up in was better than any I have seen in Harley Street – no, really! – and the staff were all absolute gems. The doc was very knowledgeable – the dude had a Phd. – and friendly. My local guide, Aga, was also the perfect guide! As for Eastern Europe… well, I loved it! It was clean and more friendly than France, and I certainly hope to go back someday.”
“After surgery, I have never felt the need to use any pain killers as the pain never got above ‘annoying’.” Well, good! We’re always pleased to hear that we have happy patients – and lucky for us, we hear it a lot!
We’ve got a very special Secret Surgery testimonial video to share with everyone today, and we’re so pleased that we’ve been sent it. This video is from a patient who underwent liposuction with us recently… as you’ll soon find in the song!
The song tells the story of our patient’s insecurities about having to wear a swimsuit to the beach, before she decides to visit Secret Surgery for some ‘cosmetic action’!
“Where can I get rid of these thighs? Where can I look kinder to other people’s eyes?” It’s got to be said, this is a couplet that’s captured what a lot of people in the UK today think, and we’re glad someone has so articulately been able to put it into words.
The song ends with a wonderful couple of lines that sums up everything we hope to do at Secret Surgery: “I might go and get some liposuction today, and look my perfect way.” Undergoing cosmetic surgery isn’t about looking the way anybody else wants you to look; it’s about looking the way you to look. We’re glad that we’ve got one happy patient here, and we’re hoping we’ll be able to make a lot more people look their perfect way in the future, too!
No, I’ve got to be honest – nor have I. But I suppose that goes to show I’m just not thinking creatively about cosmetic surgery. With the kind of technology available to cosmetic surgeons these days, people can really get to grips with their insecurities and tackle anything that’s bothering them.
For one woman, featured in a recent edition of The Mirror, that means her toes. Nikki Wilson, a 23-year-old receptionist in the UK, recently underwent a £1,800 surgery on her toes. This included liposuction, to remove the fat, and a ‘Loub Job’, which involves the injection of Botox and fillers into the balls and heels of the feet.
Nikki says “I know people will laugh, but if you don’t like the way your ears stick out you have them fixed, and the surgery has made me feel like a new woman. I was toe-dysmorphic. I hated the way I looked.”
A big reason for Nikki’s surgery was her love of shoes. “I love shoes and have a collection worth over £3,000, but I constantly felt people would look at my feet and think they were ugly. I blamed fat toe genes. I know it’s ludicrous, but it’s how I felt.”
Actually, we don’t think it’s ludicrous. At Secret Surgery, we know just how wide and varied people’s insecurities are, and feeling shy about your toes is just as normal to us as feeling embarrassed over a slightly tubby tum.
It’s great to see that Nikki has taken the plunge and done something which is going to make her feel happier and more confident for the rest of her life. If a little toe surgery is going to let Nikki enjoy herself, well, we think – what’s the harm?
Lisa tells us about her concerns with surgery abroad, which is something we come across quite often here at Secret Surgery. “I was really apprehensive about going and having surgery abroad without meeting the consultant before travelling. Lots of friends had expressed concern about my trust in overseas surgery.”
Were your fears soon allayed? “Having travelled to Poland I have nothing but praise for the way I was treated and the professionalism and kindness that I was shown. The surgeon and hospital were fantastic. I am really pleased with the results, and am hoping to go back at some point in the future.”
Wow, excellent! We often see a big turnaround in our patients’ impressions of surgery abroad after they’ve come to visit us. “I would highly recommend your services to anyone as nothing was too much trouble.”

Mary, from Ireland, has got more news for us today about the surgeries she underwent with us earlier this year. Mary came to Secret Surgery for Vaser Lipo on her thighs, and apparently hasn’t looked back since. Here’s what she’s got to say about it.
“Three years ago, I started attending Weight Watchers after seeing a picture of myself at a wedding. I was disgusted with how I looked, and after two and half years at Weight Watchers I managed to bring my weight down by six stone and eight pounds!”
“The result was fantastic, but it also meant I had a lot of saggy bits and extra skin left over after such a large weight loss. I looked into cosmetic surgeries in Ireland, but they were all too expensive.”
“This is when I came across Secret Surgery. I contacted Angela, and she was so quick to respond! She was considerate, and I had so many questions – but to her there was no such thing as a silly question!”
“I left with my sister-in-law, Valerie, for Wroclaw on April 28th, and I was so impressed when we got to the hospital. It was immaculate, and the staff were amazing and friendly. I had the vaser lipo as part of my second operation, and it was painless, comforting and easy!”
“It was the best decision of my life. Angela was great, and my experience was made so much better by being there with Valerie, and meeting Sacha, another patient there at the time. We explored the hospital together, and had a great time.”
It’s always wonderful to hear that people have positive experiences here at Secret Surgery. If you’ve got a story to share with the world, don’t hesitate to drop us an e-mail with your Secret Surgery Story.
Today, we’re lucky to have another of our previous patients regale you with their Secret Surgery experience. Alyson underwent liposuction with us, and is here to talk about how she came to her decision to undergo the procedure, and what it was like once she did. It’s worth bearing in mind what Alyson has to say about Liposuction, because it’s valuable advice.
“Let me tell you something about Vaser Lipo.” Alyson starts. “It is not a quick fix, nor is it for the faint-hearted. You need to know that. This is not a horror story, though – like anything you choose to do to your body – tattoos, piercings, even your hair-style, it’s deeply personal and should not be done on a whim.”
“I had researched lipo for quite some time before I even had any consultations – and I had had a few – I read testimonials and horror stories, but most of all I made sure that I knew what I could realistically achieve through liposuction.”
“I’ve never been a very heavy girl, but I’ve always carried extra weight in the same place – just around my tummy, hips and thighs. I’ve always had curves, and I’ve made my peace with that, but I wanted an extra helping hand to give me a kick start and help me achieve something closer to what I wanted.”
“Now, it’s important to remember that lipo is not about weight loss. I’m sorry girlfriend – that hard work is all down to you! It does remove excess fat cells, which can help you to define your curves, but it’s not about big losses.”
Whether it’s vanity or self-esteem, plastic surgery is all about how you feel about yourself.” says Alyson. “It’s nothing to be ashamed of. What you choose to do with your body is your own business – just make sure you have all the facts first.”
“I had three consultations before I chose to go with Secret Surgery. Not one of those three told me of the pitfalls of Vaser liposuction, and yet it’s something that you must be aware of. Take your time getting to know the procedure and don’t let anyone treat you like a walking cheque-book! If your surgeon tries to make you think they can turn you into Angelina Jolie, my advice is to walk right on out of there!”
“Angela, at Secret Surgery, asked me what my expectations were in her very first e-mail, and I was pretty much sold on Secret Surgery there and then. They were always honest with me about what I could realistically achieve, and clear about all the facts – lipo is for contouring, and it’s no replacement for the gym.”
“I worked so hard and changed my lifestyle so that I could make the most of the procedure. The full results of lipo don’t show for some time, and it can make you feel sore, stiff and swollen for some time afterwards; in fact, I didn’t hit the gym for at least six weeks after my lipo. You need to be ready for long-term commitment if you undergo lipo.”
And how did it all pan out in the end? “My self-confidence has soared since I took myself on this voyage 6 months ago with the help and support of Angela, Dr. W, Aga, and all the wonderful people who form my support group. They’ll be there for you all the way, too, if you’re up for the challenge.”
“Personally, all I can say is ‘Thank you Secret Surgery, for helping me to change my life.”
Thank you too! We’re always so pleased to hear that people are happy with their successes at Secret Surgery, but Alyson’s story also contains some important warnings for people considering VASER lipo; it’s not a quick fix, but it can do great things – just bear your limitations in mind!
Alyson will also be joining us again in December for our Xmas Market Trip – CLICK ON THIS LINK TO FIND OUT HOW TO JOIN US ON THIS TRIP
Liposuction is not something to take lightly; it’s a great option for hundreds and thousands of people, but signing the form to undergo the surgery isn’t just like buying a low-fat yoghurt at the supermarket.
While the media are happy to portray liposuction as an option for people too lazy to diet ‘properly’, this just isn’t true; anyone who has ever undergone the procedure knows very well that it isn’t simply chosen because it’s the ‘easy’ option. Choosing to go through with liposuction is actually one of the hardest and bravest decisions that many people can make.
The truth is, liposuction is a last resort; of course we would all rather just eat more salad and go running every week, but it doesn’t always work that way. Many women – and men – simply struggle to shift the pounds naturally, and not because of their lifestyles, either. Metabolism is a mysterious thing.
Liposuction also helps to ‘spot’ lose small amounts of weight; no matter how hard you diet, you can never choose where the pounds are going to come off. If you’re sick of always losing weight from your breasts and never enough from your bum, then liposuction is really the only solution. Of course, it’s no replacement for a good diet and exercise, but it complements your other efforts.
Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd, says that “Most of the patients who come to us to talk about liposuction have already done the research, and already know what to expect from it. Unfortunately, it’s often people outside the industry – reporters and critics – who don’t bother to find out what liposuction is really for. It’s not easy, and it’s not lazy; it’s just one of many solutions to an all-too-often seen problem.”
I travelled to Wroclaw in December to have my anticipated thigh lift: I’d already had my examination, and everything was good to go. I jetted off to Poland and arrived at the clinic. It was there, however, that I learned of an unexpected twist.
When I went to see the surgeon, he conducted a further examination prior to the procedure. It turned out that I had gained weight since my original meeting with him.
In short, it meant I couldn’t have the thigh lift. (more…)
