Despite being a dreaded Monday morning – I’ve already had two coffees – we’re here today with some fantastic news to share with all of our readers. Secret Surgery has rocketed up to second place on the Treatment Abroad reviews website – which puts us second in the world (and first in Europe!) when it comes to cosmetic surgery holidays.
This is fantastic, not just for us, but for our patients, too. It’s also thanks to our patients – especially all of those who have taken the time to review us online – that we have the proud honour of coming second on the site.
The Secret Surgery Xmas Trip 2012 is now also just a couple of months away, and preparations are underway to make it one of the most exciting weekends of the year for everyone involved. The trip is our way of saying a big ‘thank you’ to all of you – our readers, patients and followers – who make what we do count.
So, that’s about all for today. Maybe you’ll celebrate with us tonight by treating yourself to a cheeky glass of wine in front of the telly? Once again, thank you to all of our readers!
It’s too easy to think that cosmetic surgery is just ‘surgery’. In actual fact, there are three stages in cosmetic surgery abroad: the pre-operative preparation stage, the surgery itself, and the post-operative care. When you’re looking around for surgeries and considering your options, it’s important to think about pre-op and post-op care, too – because they’re just as important as the surgery itself!
Preparing for surgery abroad includes both mental and physical preparation. Physical preparation consists of refraining from drinking alcohol and smoking, staying physically fit and maintaining a healthy diet. It also means making the plans for your surgery and post-op care, such as travel plans and accommodation. Psychologically speaking, it’s important to feel ready for the big change you’re about to undergo.
After your surgery, you’ll also need to make sure you receive the right post-op care. This will vary surgery to surgery, but in many cases you’ll need to take time off work, and make sure you rest properly following your surgery. Aftercare is important to make sure you’re feeling psychologically and physically well after your surgery.
At Secret Surgery, we’ve got pre-op and post-op care covered. In our VIP package, we offer medical and emotional support from Glasgow to Kent, both before and after your surgery. Our UK Doctors are GMC Registered and nurses are plastics trained too! If you are concerned about anything going wrong or if you just need to talk – we’re always here for you. Now that’s what I call care!
Just because we offer cosmetic surgery, doesn’t mean we don’t treat ourselves to it, too! At Secret Surgery, we practice what we preach, and when you work in the cosmetic surgery industry, it’s tough not to be even more aware of your own appearance – as well as every wrinkle and blemish – as you go about your daily business. It’s also important to maintain your image; our company is all about beauty, both internal and external.
That’s why Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd. has recently undergone a liquid lift with Persona Cosmetic Medicine. This involved Botox injections all over her face, as well as Juvederm Ultra 4 and Voluma injections into her cheeks.
If this is all gobbledegook to you, let’s slow down a little. Botox injections effectively work to relax the muscles of the face, reducing the appearance of frown lines and wrinkles. Juvederm is a brand of facial filler which is used to restore the volume and perkiness of the face, often in the cheeks and under the eyes.
In other words, if you’re feeling that age is taking its toll just a little too quickly for your liking, than a liquid face lift is just what the doctor ordered. Angela Chouaib says “I had my liquid face lift, done by Dr. Lisa Delamaine at Persona Cosmetic Medicine, and I feel fab! It looks great already, and I can’t wait to see the full results in a few months’ time.”
More celebrity plastic surgery gossip today, as Kim Kardashian has recently announced her – well, we wouldn’t exactly call them ‘plans’ – to go ‘crazy’ and indulge in cosmetic surgery one day. Good for you, Kim.
Kim Kardashian is the star of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, a hit US reality TV show which has recently gone down a storm here in the UK, too. She’s not the only woman in her family to think of plastic surgery, either; her mother, Kris Jenner, underwent a facelift last year in preparation for Kim’s wedding to Kris Humphries.
Kim said she’s got no current plans to go under the knife, though she won’t rule it out when she’s older. “I haven’t had any surgery.” She told ‘Now’ magazine. “I know they always say, ‘she did that to her butt, she did her nose’, and all that stuff, but I haven’t.”
Kim is quick to point out her views on the matter, though. “I’m not against it – my mom had her neck done and I think they did a really good job, and she did exactly whats he wanted. So when I get older, knowing me, I’m so crazy that I will probably have something done.”
Having previously treated herself to some Botox injections, we don’t doubt that Kim will take the plunge and opt for cosmetic surgery one day, too! And it’s a good thing – because it would be a shame to see those good looks fade!
In so many ways, life is a constant struggle to communicate; if only we as human beings could somehow flawlessly understand each other all of the time, we’d probably find life a lot easier to get through without trouble.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. When it comes to surgery abroad, there are even more language barriers than in everyday life. There’s the literal language barrier that you’ll meet when you travel to a foreign country to undergo your surgery. There’s a technical language barrier, when our surgeons try to explain your surgery to you in a way that doesn’t necessitate scientific knowledge, and there’s a social language barrier – as there always is – between you and your surgeon. Can you say this? Can you ask this?
Yes! Of course you can. At Secret Surgery, we know how important it is to be able to communicate with people – and communication in the patient-doctor relationship is all the more crucial. We’ve broken down the communication barriers, so you don’t feel misunderstood when you opt for surgery with us.
Consultants are available throughout the UK, so any worries and problems you have can be brought directly to them. Our expert team of surgeons are as practised in bedside manner as they are in their own medical specialisms, and we’re dedicated to making cosmetic surgery less daunting, less intimidating, and much more… fun! As the most accessible medical tourism company in the UK, we don’t need to be told that we’re good at communication.
Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd., says that “Secret Surgery’s aim is to make surgery abroad hassle-free, and a huge part of that is knowing that online support is available 365 days a year. We’re here for you when you need us – and that’s what’s important.”
Secret Surgery also offers an 24/7 online support community here.
Surgery abroad sounds great: you get to swan off to a sunny, exotic country, pay minimal prices for top quality surgeons, and return to the UK with a brand new body and bags of confidence to go with it. What could be bad about that?
What a lot of people forget is that aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself; if you come home and develop a complication, only to realise that the surgeon who performed your surgery is hundreds of miles away – what are you going to do?
A lot of so-called ‘high-quality’ clinics don’t bother to make sure you’re covered for aftercare, so it’s important to make sure you opt for a surgery that does. While, obviously, the best outcome is one which doesn’t involve any unexpected aftercare – all procedures come with some level of risk, and it’s always important to be covered for every eventuality.
At Secret Surgery, we know how crucial aftercare is; and that’s why our VIP package includes 12 months of comprehensive aftercare treatment in the UK, which covers stitch removal, wound management, scar repair and maintenance. We can also help you to arrange complication insurance with Medical Travel Shield.
“Secret Surgery works with only the best Clinics in the UK to offer a comprehensive aftercare package as well as supplying other additional complementary treatments.” says Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd. She also warns of amendments made to the NHS’ regulations: “You need to be aware that there has been a change in the NHS, which means that if you have an elective surgical procedure privately than you must have full aftercare relating to this procedure privately too.”
Is Jenny McCarthy Botox’s biggest fan? While most actresses like to pretend their buxom bosoms and slim waists are simply the results of good diets and regular work-outs, Jenny McCarthy is happy to tell the world how she keeps herself looking so young.
The star, who’s just about to see the launch of her new reality match-making show, Love in the Wild, has been open about using Botox for the past few years, singing its praises at every opportunity.
“I’m an obvious Botox user,” she told Life & Style magazine. “I tell everyone.” McCarthy isn’t just a user of Botox; she’s a lover of it. “I get Botox in my forehead”, she says. “I just have my doctor do a little shot.”
It’s certainly doing something for the 39-year old, who would look more out of place at a PTA meeting than at an under 18′s nightclub. McCarthy has before been in the news for being open about her breast augmentation, so it looks like she’s a lady who’s proud of her cosmetic improvements!
Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd., says that “It’s great to see that someone is proud of their cosmetic procedures. For too long there’s been an unhealthy stigma surrounding the cosmetic surgery industry, and women are finally beginning to feel confident and free enough to undertake procedures without shame or guilt.”
