Carole: My Terrific Tummy Tuck
Today, Carole from Manchester is here to share her story of Secret Surgery – and all of its ups and downs. She seems very pleased, and even got a hernia sorted out while she was here!
How does your weight loss story start? After being an overweight child, overweight teenager and overweight adult… three children later and even more overweight, enough was enough!! I had tried every type of weight loss method possible and my weight at 19 1/2 stone was effecting my health, my job and my happiness. In 2007 I made one of the best decisions in my life and paid privately to have a gastric band fitted. Although I lost a total of 7 ½ stone and kept the weight off, I never realised the effects that loose and baggy skin would have on my life.
And was it then that you started looking into surgery? Two years ago I started my research into plastic surgery as I needed a Tummy Tuck and a leg lift. I had various consultations in the UK with different outcomes, but one thing was the same all the time, the fees were exceptionally high.
How did you find us? As I had my Gastric band fitted abroad, I decided to research into the possibility of having cosmetic surgery abroad too and that’s when I stumbled across Secret Surgery and I am so glad I did.
Why? Right from the onset when I contacted Angela, she seemed to have my best interests at heart. I sent photographs of my tummy and legs via Angela to Dr W in Wroclaw. The Dr decided that Vasor Lipo would be a better option for my legs and could certainly do the Tummy tuck and muscle tightening required.
What happened next? After speaking with my husband and family, speaking to other people who had treatment via Secret Surgery’s Facebook page and doing some online research, I was quite confident that Secret Surgery was for me and I paid my deposit.
And what was your experience coming here like? My Journey to Poland with my husband was arranged by Angela and her team and from the onset was very professional and very well organised. Arriving in Poland we were met by Jack our taxi driver who was polite and very helpful, after being taken to our very modern and comfortable apartment we spent the afternoon in the main town square which is a five minute walk from the apartments.
And what about the surgery? The following day I was taken to the hospital and met Aga from secret Surgery, she helped me with the medical forms and administration that needs to be completed and took me for a consultation with Dr W. Aga was there to translate for the Dr who spoke a small amount of English and was a lovely man, his main concern was that I got the results that I wanted from my surgery. He also found a hernia which didn’t know I had and decided to repair this during the tummy tuck. The following day I went to surgery for my Tummy Tuck, hernia and muscle repair and after just one day of recovering could not believe the fantastic results of my lovely new tummy.
Excellent! Were you pleased by your experience here? The hospital was fresh, bright and very, very clean and although sometimes there was a language barrier between myself and the nurses, they always managed to make themselves understood and were really nice. I was very impressed with the standard of hygiene and cleanliness at the hospital in general and also during treatments and dressing changes.
That’s fantastic to hear. I am three weeks post op now and am looking forward to going back to Poland in March for my vasor Lipo on my front and back of thighs. Thank you to everyone concerned for making my Surgery journey so far a very positive experience.

I attended the wonderful VIP Trip to Wroclaw and I am appalled by the way the article has been written and disgusted by the behaviour of the so called professional reporter/photographer.
The inaccuracies within the article are beyond belief. The reporter should apply to Walt Disney as her fictitious writing skills are amazing.

Today, Miss D is here to tell us all about her VIP surgery trip to Wroclaw in December.
Miss D, what was your overall experience of Poland? “From the very first moment I contacted Angela to actually arriving in Poland, the experience was 1st class. Arriving there I was quite nervous but to be met by such lovely people as Jack – the best taxi driver in Poland – and Aga, the most kind and caring person you could meet, was great. And Dr. W – what can I say? He’s a genius!”
What were you most worried about? “I was more worried about Dr. W seeing me undressed than the actual surgery! But he puts you immediately at ease and after a few minutes with him my nerves had vanished. The hospital staff are great and the aftercare amazing. Dr. W takes great care in making sure you are healing correctly.
Any last words? “I’d like to thank everyone at Secret Surgery and everybody in Poland for my surgery experience – it wouldn’t have been the same without any of them!”

Miss H: My Gastric Wrap
If there are any ladies – or lads – out there thinking about undergoing a gastric wrap, then you’re in luck! One of our past patients, the mysterious Miss H, is here to tell us all about her experiences with a gastric wrap at Secret Surgery.
What made you think of cosmetic surgery? “After years of being overweight and trying and failing on every diet possible, I had begun to get really despondent and almost to the point of giving up. I had never considered surgery but things were getting desperate. I knew that a girl at my work had had the gastric wrap and have watched her slim down and grow in confidence. I had a chat with her and she recommended Secret Surgery and told me to give Angela a call.”
Wow! And how did that proceed? “After a couple of emails and calls from Secret Surgery I decided it was right for me, deposit was paid and all arrangements made. More importantly, I’d been matched up with a surgery buddy to accompany me to Prague. I also had Patricia from Secret Surgery as my contact and was encouraged to call her if i had any questions or worries. Unfortunately my surgery buddy had to postpone her surgery so I arrived in Prague feeling a little like a fish out of water!”
Oh no; and what about when you got to Poland? “I was taken by the driver to the clinic and met by Brooke, who showed me to me apartment. Apartment was lovely, I even had two toilets, guess you can never have too many!! I was told I would be met the following morning at 7am for the big day! Only I felt so chilled in my lovely apartment bed that I nearly overslept, had to rush round getting ready so no time for nerves!!”
Did you get to meet the surgeons? “The representative Tina met me and took me down to the clinic, nerves started kicking in but Tina was lovely and put my mind at rest. I then had various tests and discussions with medical staff, I was impressed at how thorough the pre-op tests were even down to the psychiatric consultation.”
And what about the surgery itself? “I went to my hospital room had my pre-op meds and then laughed uncontrollably while 2 nurses tried to get my surgical stockings up my legs. Although their English was not perfect, they made me feel at ease. Then they wheeled me off to the theatre… I woke up back in my hospital room, feeling surprisingly good.”
Great! But what about after the surgery – the recovery time? “I was checked regularly and drifted in and out of sleep. I got up to go to the toilet and couldn’t believe I hard no pain. I had a good night and the next day the liquids started, I must admit I did have more nausea than I expected, however the staff were amazing what with the nurses and regular checks from the surgeons. I was discharged back to my room on Wednesday afternoon, however I spent the night in my apartment room being sick. I rang Tina and spoke to the nurses saying they would get me to see surgeon in the morning.”
And what happened on Thursday? “On Thursday morning I was seen and readmitted to the clinic, and I was their only patient! I got one to one treatment, which was amazing. My nausea continued until Friday morning but by Friday lunchtime it stopped, and Dr Fried felt OK to discharge me.”
Did you feel that going abroad for surgery was a good idea? “I would just like to say that although I was a lot more sick than I anticipated the level of care I received in the clinic in Prague was second to none, I have had quite a lot of knee surgery privately in this country and there was no difference, if anything I got better treatment over there. I was initially worried about the language problems as some staff were more fluent in English than others, however I would see the same staff and had a good laugh with them as felt quite sad to leave them at the end of the week, along with Tina they had become my family over there!”
Great! And how have things been since coming home? “So here I am, back in the UK already, feeling slimmer with the neatest incisions ever! I would just like to thank Angela and all at Secret Surgery – I never once doubted the professionalism but also felt that I could ask any questions and always got speedy answers.”
Any last thoughts? “I still wish I could have been out there with my surgery buddy that was one thing that really appealed and think that it is great for the company to put you together with someone else in the same boat, so although we didn’t travel together I still have my buddy to share our experience back here. So in a nutshell, I would like to thank Angela and Secret Surgery for all the professionalism and support I have received and I know this will continue in my onward journey! I would recommend this life changing experience to anyone.”

My Story: Ben & Stephanie
We have another special Secret Surgery story today, this time coming from Ben and Stephanie.
How did your Secret Surgery story start? “My girlfriend and I decided to book breast implants with Secret Surgery because we felt secure and positive with the info we were go by Angela Chouaib when we met at the Bridge Wood Hotel. Everything was well organized on her behalf with flights, travel and places to go.”
“When we both arrived, we were taken to our hotel by Jack, the taxi driver, and as we were too early to check into our apartment, Jack arranged our luggage to be put in a hotel nearby as he was friends with concierge at the hotel.”
“The apartment was very up-to-date and very spacious, and when we go back again I will request the same one – as it was very well designed! The next day, we were met by Aga, who picked us up, and took us to the hospital for our consultation. I had just lost my mobile phone on the plane, and she kindly gave me a spare to use which was so helpful!”
Was everybody friendly? “Both Jack and Aga were very polite and talkative, and they both spoke brilliant English. We then met the surgeon, who was very understanding, and we were both glad that it was him that was going to do the surgery as he was very humble!”
“I felt that the surgeon was great with my girlfriend, and he made her laugh when he checked up on her from time to time, and he spoke to me personally to say how glad he was to have done the surgery. The nurses were lovely to me, and even took time to print me out a tram map so I could travel to and from the hospital from my apartment.”
And what of Poland? “The Polish people are very helpful if you get lost, but the older generation tend to expect you to move out the way for them out of respect for elders, no matter if you have the right of way or not – so don’t take it personally if you bump into people out there!”
And one final question… will you be visiting us again? “The operation was a success and I would definitely go again. My best advice to anyone who is going is that you double check everything that you think is necessary by asking and being persistent, as the hospital is a very busy place and if you don’t speak up you may not get asked about all of your special requirements. I’m willing to speak to anyone about what I might need – money, restaurants and travel.”
“I will be going again soon to have teeth veneers done, and another reason to go back as I feel in love with the restaurants and buildings and scenery out there!”

Claire: My Eyelid Correction
We’ve got another previous patient in today to tell us all about her Secret Surgery story. Claire underwent eyelid correction surgery with us, and hasn’t looked back since.
Eyelid correction surgery can sometimes be necessary when our eyelids make us look older and more tired. It’s a simple procedure in which the surgeon removes excess skin and fatty tissue, and the results are visible within just a short time after treatment.
Let’s see what Claire has to say about her eyelid correction surgery. “My healing is going well – the scar on my left eye is virtually unnoticeable now and I’m really pleased with that. The scar on my right is still very red, and the line is thicker and more visible, but it is slowly receding somewhat.”
Are you glad you came to Secret Surgery for your eyelid correction? “I’m pleased I had it done, so I don’t have any regrets – it does look better!”

My Tummy Tuck and Me
Today, we’ve got another special guest here to talk about her experience with Secret Surgery. How did you find Secret Surgery in the beginning?
“From the first enquiry everything was professionally presented. A straightforward cost, and clearly presented information. From start to finish I have been supported by Angela and the Facebook group – every e-mail is answered in superfast time, and nothing was too much trouble for her. I wasn’t sure what to expect in Poland, although I had followed the journeys of those going over before me, and witnessed their incredible results.”
Fantastic. And what about when you arrived here? “On landing, it could have been any UK city, as the houses and buildings are much like ours in the UK. I was met by the gorgeous Aga, and we had a lovely chat on the way to the EMC hospital at Wroclaw, where I was met by Dr. Waclawowicz and the amazing staff at the hospital.”
Did you feel nervous about your surgery? “I had a consultation with Dr. W, where he asked what my expectations were, and then he told me what he could realistically achieve. I was more than happy with what he suggested, and told him that I trusted him to do whatever was necessary, whether it be extra lipo or whatever. I had seen his work many times before, so I trusted him 100%. I was given numerous tests including ECG, blood screen, etc. – and then left to rest in my lovely, comfortable, very clean room.”
Well that sounds nice! How did the surgeries go? “The next day I was taken taken down early for my tummy tuck, and the nurses were warm and friendly; some spoke very good English, and some spoke a little, but there was never a difficulty is asking questions, or getting over what I wanted to say.”
And what about your recovery? “Before I knew it I was in the recovery room where there were around 6 beds. I didn’t need lipo which I was pleased about. I stayed until the next day with a nurse constantly at my side. I couldn’t sleep with the beeping of machines, but a lovely nurse called Margaret was there to chat to. She kept checking whether I had any pain, and amazingly I didn’t. Just the feeling of maybe overdoing the sit ups.”
That’s great to hear. And what did you think of the hospital overall – did it live up to your expectations? “What I couldn’t get over was the meticulous detail to cleanliness and sterility. Even the drain bottles removed from sterile packaging get sprayed before being attached to the sprayed drain tube ends.”
“I had an extra day in hospital as my drains were still collecting fluid, but felt assured that I was in the right place, and that healing can’t be rushed. Angela, kept in touch, and when I was up and about she called for a chat. 3 days post op from tummy tuck, I went out to the wonderful shopping centres in Wroclaw, and couldn’t believe how well I felt, and how painless the whole procedure had been. Four days after my tummy tuck I had upper eyelid correction under local anaesthetic, and the results are amazing!”
Brilliant. Have you been feeling fine since? “My recovery has been a breeze. It has been the most amazing experience, and the EMC hospital, it’s doctors and nurses, far exceeded my expectations. Dr. Waclawowicz is the most kind, caring, and sensitive man. He is concerned for you at all times, and makes sure that you are not in pain at any time during the procedure. I am absolutely in love with Poland, and cannot wait to come back.”
“’How can you enjoy going and putting yourself through two surgeries?’ is what people are asking me. I can tell you, it has been fantastic, and really like a holiday, and I am really really sad to be going home. I’m keen to see hubby of course, but I can’t wait to arrange to bring him out here.”
Any final words? “Thank you Angela for your continuing support, which is invaluable. Aga, although only meeting her briefly as she was going on holiday this week, was amazing, and kind, and has kept in touch with me by text all week. She left a well-planned itinery with Jack the driver, who is just adorable (and single!). He has gone above and beyond for me, and I am extremely grateful. “I would like to start with how easy the process was from the beginning. Angela looked after me and answered any questions I had, day or night. I paid my deposit, and Angela booked my flights, apartment and procedure – I had to do nothing. She even checked me in for my flight!”
Did you arrive OK? “On the day of my flight, everything went smoothly and I landed in Prague to be met by my driver, Paul, who was very nice. He took us to the clinic where I was met by troy. I was shown to my apartment, which was lovely, and given a welcome pack with a full itinerary for the following day.”
How did the operation itself go? “The day of the op, I was met downstairs by Troy and taken for pre-op tests. The clinic was clean and most of the staff spoke very good English. Professor Fried was amazing and he sat and answered all of my questions. He explained the procedure in detail, too. I was taken for my op, and when I woke up I felt OK – just a little sick, and I was given meds for this.”
“I felt amazing. A few days later I was discharged back to my apartment, where I stayed until my driver picked me up and drove me back to the airport. Oh – I forgot to add that I was given a phone call every day by Angela to see how I was… Secret Surgery have been brilliant, and I will be coming back for plastics! Thanks Angela!”

My Super Weight Loss Surgery!
We’ve got another happy patient here today to tell us all about her Secret Surgery story. “To say I was sceptical about surgery abroad would be an understatement. I was very much against it and believed that people who went for surgery abroad were sent to filthy ‘back street’ clinics and operated on by unlicensed surgeons.”
What changed your mind? “It soon became clear to me from speaking to Angela in great detail and from research I had done myself that this certainly wasn’t the case when booking with Secret Surgery. If anything, the facilities that Angela books for her patients are very modern, clean and well-equipped with the most advanced medical equipment. The surgeons based at these facilities are also considered some of the most experienced in their fields. With this in mind, I was very confident about booking my gastric wrap (plication) surgery in Prague with Secret Surgery.”
And how was your stay there? “When I arrived at my luxury apartment I was a little disappointed that I did not have some of the items that were specified in the apartment description but with one call to Angela she was on the case and it wasn’t long before a very apologetic member of hotel staff was delivering me a kettle for my soups along with a DVD player and a selection of English films! This was very nice, as I was going to be spending my recovery time in the apartment too.”
That’s great! Did you feel safe before your surgery, then? “Well, the morning of my surgery I had the pleasure of meeting my surgeon, Professor Fried. The surgery brief was very important and he was happy to answer any questions or concerns that we had. He really put us at ease and was friendly and approachable. Following the surgery, he visited all his patients on a daily basis and had a genuine interest in our recovery.”
Did everything go OK? “I experienced a minor complication with my surgery and had a small bleed. I was placed in a priority room next to the nurses’ station and I was checked on every hour for the first 24 hours, post operatively, to have observations done. The pre-op and post-op checks were very thorough, and I felt well looked after throughout my stay in the clinic. I was also contacted frequently by Angela during this time and she kept a close eye on my recovery including speaking to the clinic staff to ensure I was OK.”
Fantastic. Anything else since you arrived home? “Upon returning to the UK following my surgery, I have had at least weekly contact from Angela and Jane, my dietary advisor, to check on my progress and offer advice with any queries or concerns I may have. The service I have experienced through Secret Surgery is first class and I have recommended this service to many other people already, and will continue to do so!”

Jo: My Face and Neck Lift
For today’s Secret Surgery story, we’ve got Jo here to talk about her face and neck lifts with us. While she enjoyed her experience at Secret Surgery, she wants future patients to know all about the obstacles she faced during her surgery; whenever you undergo any kind of cosmetic surgery, there will be a short recovery time to go through, and it’s important to know what to expect.
How are you feeling today? “I’ve still not recovered full from my surgery last month. I have a wound in front of my right ear that is very slow to heal. Dr. W did warn me that the wound would take longer than the other side due a previous face lift scar which left my skin very thin.”
“I stopped smoking in February, I thought that would be OK and I have not started again. Age probably takes a part in the healing process, too. I can’t get my hair cut or coloured yet, so I’m not feeling the best.”
“Also, to ladies having face or neck surgery, please grow your hair! Dr. W had to shave sections of my hair at the back on both sides where the scars are placed. I now have bristles and small chunks of hair growing back through!” That’s good to know!
How do you feel about your experience as a whole? “I would recommend Secret Surgery, Poland and Dr. W, and the lovely Aga. Regards and thank you Angela, for the chance and experience; I’ll look back on it and smile soon, I’m sure!”

The Tale of Mr. Y
We’ve got yet another glowing patient review to share with you all today, and this one comes from the mysterious Mr. Y, from London, who underwent a gynecomasty with us – also known as a male breast reduction procedure. We can add that our enigmatic Mr. Y was of Asian origin, and decided to travel out so see us during Euro 2012 football cup!
So, what made you look around for surgery? “I got tired of having man-boobs and wanted out of the club. I looked at alternatives as surgery really didn’t seem like the most attractive solution. From pills to, well, other pills – nothing seemed like a decent permanent solution. Thus, my search for a surgical option came under way. I looked at the sites online that offer to call you back once you register, and the average price was around £4000 – which was far more than I could afford, so that was that.”
“Somehow, in the middle of all this, I ended up getting in touch with Angela at Secret Surgery – or rather, she got in touch with me. She offered half the price and, such was, by default, in the lead for my custom. Frankly, the feeling of just getting it over and done with overtook my reservations about going for cosmetic surgery abroad.”
And what was it like? “The thing is, though, the hospital I ended up in was better than any I have seen in Harley Street – no, really! – and the staff were all absolute gems. The doc was very knowledgeable – the dude had a Phd. – and friendly. My local guide, Aga, was also the perfect guide! As for Eastern Europe… well, I loved it! It was clean and more friendly than France, and I certainly hope to go back someday.”
“After surgery, I have never felt the need to use any pain killers as the pain never got above ‘annoying’.” Well, good! We’re always pleased to hear that we have happy patients – and lucky for us, we hear it a lot!

Are you glad you decided to travel abroad for your cosmetic surgery? “From the moment I arrived in Poland for my tummy tuck, everything I could have thought of was already organised. I didn’t need to worry about anything.”
“The hospital surpassed all of my expectations and the surgeon is amazing! You aren’t just treated like a number – each time I saw him I felt like he had my best interests in mind.”

Lisa: My Vaser Lipo Story
Today we’ve got another patient story to share; this one’s from Lisa, in London, who underwent vaser liposuction with us not long ago.
Lisa tells us about her concerns with surgery abroad, which is something we come across quite often here at Secret Surgery. “I was really apprehensive about going and having surgery abroad without meeting the consultant before travelling. Lots of friends had expressed concern about my trust in overseas surgery.”
Were your fears soon allayed? “Having travelled to Poland I have nothing but praise for the way I was treated and the professionalism and kindness that I was shown. The surgeon and hospital were fantastic. I am really pleased with the results, and am hoping to go back at some point in the future.”

Mary: My Tummy Tuck
Mary, from Ireland, is here again with us today to tell us about her Secret Surgery success. She joined us in Wroclaw earlier this year to undergo a tummy tuck, and she’s here to talk about the details of her experience.

Nuala: My Breast Reduction
Today, Nuala from Edinburgh has got more Secret Surgery gossip for us, with details about her breast reduction procedure, undertaken earlier this year.
“I’ve wanted a breast reduction for many years now, being a mother of four, but I never thought I’d see it happen. I used to hate the way I looked, and so I started searching for surgeries online, and this is how I found Secret Surgery.”
“I looked at pictures on the web, and then got in contact with Angela Chouaib, Secret Surgery’s MD. She was so helpful, and made me realise just how viable surgery with Secret Surgery would be.
