A cheesy title! Forgive me. Breast reductions can be the best reductions, though – particularly if they go as smoothly as they can. Your best chances of having an easy surgery and a quick recovery come from knowing how to take care of yourself once you’ve had the procedure. Follow our easy tips and you’ll be just fine:
- Take painkillers after the op – but don’t take aspirin, ever, after undergoing a breast reduction.
- Be prepared to have swollen breasts for weeks following the surgery.
- Rest as much as possible, and limit your arm movements as much as you can.
- Get yourself a sports bra, and wear it day and night for at least two weeks following your surgery.
- Don’t exercise, but do try and move around as much as possible. Avoid lying still for long periods other than for sleep.
- Start arm movements and exercises around a week after your surgery
- Refrain from driving for at least two weeks – more, if you feel it’s necessary
- Don’t smoke for at least two weeks after your op
Of course, the biggest rule – the key one to remember – is to ALWAYS follow your doctor’s orders. It’s not just something your parents say, it’s really important! If you’re worried about taking care of yourself post-op, please don’t hesitate to sign up to our VIP aftercare package – there’ll be someone in the UK for you to rely on at all points following your surgery.
The media and TV will have you thinking that the bigger your breasts, the better they are. Images of large-chested women are plastered all over magazines and magazines, and it seems that almost everyone in Hollywood is at least a DD cup!
Of course, we should all know by now that the media isn’t right about everything. While a lot of women come to us every year to have their breasts enlarged, we also have a lot of women come and talk to us about breast reductions; and it’s not as crazy as it sounds!
As with everything else, there really is a ‘happy middle’ when it comes to breast sizes. It’s not the same for everyone, but most women feel comfortable with breasts that are big enough to feel curvy and womanly, but not so big that they’re painful and inconvenient. Never mind the backpain; very large breasts can even make clothes shopping a complete pain!
If you’ve ever considered a breast reduction but aren’t sure if you’re even crazy for thinking it – don’t worry! Come in and talk to us about it. Being worried that your breasts are too large is a valid concern, and actually getting something done about it can lead not only to increased self-esteem, but also to better physical health!
“I’ve wanted a breast reduction for many years now, being a mother of four, but I never thought I’d see it happen. I used to hate the way I looked, and so I started searching for surgeries online, and this is how I found Secret Surgery.”
“I looked at pictures on the web, and then got in contact with Angela Chouaib, Secret Surgery’s MD. She was so helpful, and made me realise just how viable surgery with Secret Surgery would be. Angela put me through to the Secret Surgery Facebook group, where I could talk to other people in the same position as me.”
“Talking to past patients, I just knew I was making the right decision. As soon as I made up my mind and paid my deposit, I could sit back and just let Angela take over. I never regretted my decision – not for a moment.”
“Angela was great the whole way through. She talked me through every step, and I never felt pushed into things. All I had to do was turn up at the airport and fly to Wroclaw, where Aga was waiting. She was lovely, and explained everything to me.”
“I was also introduced to Dr. W, the surgeon who would be performing my breast reduction. I really felt like I was in safe hands with him, and I was right! The procedure was fantastic, as was the care I received after it.”
“I’d like to thank Angela from the bottom of my heart, for you have really helped me to make my dream a reality. I’m eternally grateful!”
It’s always lovely to hear genuinely moving stories like this one, and at Secret Surgery we’re just pleased to be able to make a difference. Thanks to Nuala, we’re able to offer first-hand patient stories which might just help more people to take the plunge and change their lives.
A fascinating story appeared on the Shanghai Daily news site the other day, warning about the dangers of buying your own silicone implants. Reportedly, a female university student in Shanghai purchased a 35 yuan – or $5.50, for those of us who understand American money a little better than Chinese money – silica gel implant, which she then took to the hospital, asking the surgeons there to reshape her nose with it.
It’s all well and good to laugh – after all, who knows what you’re buying online when you purchase a nameless, unbranded ‘implant’ – but if the doctors had not refused, this woman could have suffered some serious consequences!
You can’t just go sticking anything inside your nose, bum, boobs or cheeks and hoping it’ll plump you up without causing any damage. At Secret Surgery, all of our silicone implants are made to order, after being measured for the patient. Not only does this mean that our implants are clean, safe and reliable, but they’re also tailored to fit you. We often find patients who are asking for breast implants have asymmetrical breasts and need two different sizes of implant, anyway.
In other words, just in case you ever get tempted: don’t buy implants online! No doctor in their right minds will operate with those, because they’re dangerous, risky, and – frankly – unsafe. The Shanghai university student should count her lucky stars that her surgeon did refuse to use the implant she had bought, or she might have ended up with a painful and expensive post-op infection!
We’re back with more info from Sacha about the procedures she underwent with Secret Surgery in April. Sacha was here for three surgeries – a breast reduction, tummy tuck, and cosmetic dentistry – and today she’s going to tell us more about her experiences with a breast reduction at Secret Surgery.
“I was supposed to have my breast reduction on the 18th of April, five days after my tummy tuck. This didn’t end up happening because when I went back into the hospital for my reduction, I was told on the morning that the operation couldn’t go ahead because my blood levels weren’t right yet.”
“At first I was disappointed, but then I thought to myself that this doctor obviously cares about my health – and it’s not all about the money. After that, I was happy to wait.”
“I was there for another 10 days, which was fine, because my insurance covered all the extra costs for travel and accommodation and Angela helped me with everything. I got back to the hotel and Googled what foods I needed to eat to get my bloods back up, and religiously stuck to that list! Ten days later, my blood levels were fine, and I underwent my breast reduction.”
“The time I spent in Wroclaw was great – the city is clean, beautiful and historic – very different to what I expected! I’m so glad I went with Secret Surgery, and would definitely say that Secret Surgery is the company to use when having cosmetic surgery.”
It’s really wonderful to be able to post such positive experiences. We’ve got more from Sacha coming up in the next few weeks, so hang tight!
Today, we’re very lucky to be able to offer you another Secret Surgery success story; this time it’s Nuala, from Edinburgh, who considers her time with us to be “the most amazing experience [she] has ever had.” High praise indeed!
“I’m a mother of four beautiful daughters, and for many years I’ve wanted a tummy tuck and a breast reduction, but I never thought I’d see it happen! I used to hate the way I looked, and so yet again I started the search for surgeries online, looking at pictures on the web. It’s then that I found Secret Surgery – and realised I might be able to make my dreams a reality!”
We’re glad to hear we inspired you with so much hope, Nuala. What happened next? “I got in contact with Angela Chouaib, the Managing Director of Secret Surgery, and found out how viable surgery with SS was – at a fraction of the price it would cost me in the UK! I realised that with SS, I could afford both a tummy tuck and a breast reduction, and for less than it would cost for one procedure in the UK!”
Wow! And what about the service you got from SS? “I had so many conversations with Angela Chouaib to put my mind at ease – and, I can assure you, she did just that. She invited me to join the SS Facebook group, and I felt even more assured after talking to ‘real’ patients that my experience with Secret Surgery would be great.”
“These were people that were going through exactly the same things as me, and I could tell this was the right thing to do. As soon as I made up my mind and paid my deposit, I could sit back and just let Angela take over – and that’s exactly what happened. I was so excited to see what would come next, and never for a moment did I regret my decision.”
“The service provided by Angela was, from start to finish, second to none. Angela talked me through everything, step by step, which quickly rules out any worries I might have had. It was totally genuine; she was both caring and professional, and I never felt like I was being pushed into things. All I had to do was turn up at the airport and fly to Wroclaw, and I was met there by Aga – a lovely, beautiful Polish lady, who took over from Angela, and explained everything to me.”
That certainly does sound like great service – we’re proud to know you feel that way. What happened next? “I was given a choice between a 4-star hotel and an apartment for my accommodation, and I chose the hotel. I was taken to the hospital for my medical, and introduced to Dr Wojciech Waclawowicz. After speaking to him, I felt even more confident about my decision; I knew I was in safe hands.”
“The care that I got before my procedure and after my ops was fantastic; the surgeon even came to see me in my private room and was there at all of my dressing changes.” We do try to offer a personal service at Secret Surgery. What about when you got back to the UK, though?
“Well, I’m back in the UK now, and I’m a very happy lady! I love the new me, and though it’s early days, as I’m stilling wearing my dressings and compression garments, I’m so excited to see the change once I’m in my normal clothes. My aftercare has continued into the UK, and I’ve loved the whole experience.”
Whew! That’s all excellent news; there’s nothing better than hearing your service is appreciated by patients. “I’m just bursting with things to say about my experience! If it helps others to take the plunge and make the decision they’ve always wanted to make – don’t be scared, ladies! It’s well worth it. I’d like to thank Angela from the bottom of my heart, for you have really helped me to make my dream a reality. I’m eternally grateful.”
It’s touching to hear stories like this; at Secret Surgery, we put our priorities on quality, care and comfort, and there’s nothing more rewarding to see it pay off. If you’ve got a story to share about your time at Secret Surgery, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Today, one of our VIP patients is here to tell us about her body makeover at Secret Surgery. Sacha underwent a breast reduction and tummy tuck with us, as well as having cosmetic dentistry done while she was here.
“I went to Poland on 11th April, booked by the lovely Angela at Secret Surgery. I was booked in for a tummy tuck on the 13th and breast reduction on the 18th of April. The second operation had to be postponed while the doctors waited for blood levels to return to normal, so in between the two I had my teeth sandblasted and whitened, as well as having three veneers and a crown fitted.”
“The level of care at Secret Surgery was amazing, and the hospital was spotless. All the staff that I came into contact with were so caring; Aga and Dr. W were amazing, and Dr. W made me feel like I was the only patient there – though I obviously wasn’t. I could tell he really cared.”
“Altogether I spent one month and four days in Wroclaw, and I don’t regret a minute of it. I would recommend Secret Surgery to anyone. Thank you, Dr. W, for changing the way I feel! Although lots of people think that if they have surgery they will be happy with themselves, my advice is to be happy first and then you will truly love yourself.”
Thanks, Sacha! We’ve got more details from Sacha in the coming weeks about the separate treatments she underwent during her body makeover, so keep reading to find out how those went.
The embarrassment at being unable to find bras or bikinis of the right size in regular clothing outlets, combined with the self-consciousness that often comes with being chestier than most have led women to consider reducing the size of their breasts.
These are not the only reasons breast reduction surgery is suddenly more popular, however. A new method of breast reduction that does not involve a scalpel has recently been pioneered in the UK.
To date, this new method has been successfully performed on over 80 patients. It requires less downtime, and of course there is no scarring.
The procedure is a modification of traditional liposuction, in which a thin metal tube is inserted into the fat layer below the skin using a tiny incision.
The procedure is not suitable for women who have lost a lot of weight and have loose skin or stretch marks on the breasts, as reducing volume will exacerbate these problems. Women with a strong family history of breast cancer are also not suitable for this procedure. For other large-breasted women however, it may be worth paying more to have less.
