My Story: Ben & Stephanie

We have another special Secret Surgery story today, this time coming from Ben and Stephanie.

How did your Secret Surgery story start? “My girlfriend and I decided to book breast implants with Secret Surgery because we felt secure and positive with the info we were go by Angela Chouaib when we met at the Bridge Wood Hotel. Everything was well organized on her behalf with flights, travel and places to go.”

“When we both arrived, we were taken to our hotel by Jack, the taxi driver, and as we were too early to check into our apartment, Jack arranged our luggage to be put in a hotel nearby as he was friends with concierge at the hotel.”

“The apartment was very up-to-date and very spacious, and when we go back again I will request the same one – as it was very well designed! The next day, we were met by Aga, who picked us up, and took us to the hospital for our consultation. I had just lost my mobile phone on the plane, and she kindly gave me a spare to use which was so helpful!”

Was everybody friendly? “Both Jack and Aga were very polite and talkative, and they both spoke brilliant English. We then met the surgeon, who was very understanding, and we were both glad that it was him that was going to do the surgery as he was very humble!”

“I felt that the surgeon was great with my girlfriend, and he made her laugh when he checked up on her from time to time, and he spoke to me personally to say how glad he was to have done the surgery. The nurses were lovely to me, and even took time to print me out a tram map so I could travel to and from the hospital from my apartment.”

And what of Poland? “The Polish people are very helpful if you get lost, but the older generation tend to expect you to move out the way for them out of respect for elders, no matter if you have the right of way or not – so don’t take it personally if you bump into people out there!”

And one final question… will you be visiting us again? “The operation was a success and I would definitely go again. My best advice to anyone who is going is that you double check everything that you think is necessary by asking and being persistent, as the hospital is a very busy place and if you don’t speak up you may not get asked about all of your special requirements. I’m willing to speak to anyone about what I might need – money, restaurants and travel.”

“I will be going again soon to have teeth veneers done, and another reason to go back as I feel in love with the restaurants and buildings and scenery out there!”

How NOT to End Up with Wonky Boobs…

A fascinating story appeared on the Shanghai Daily news site the other day, warning about the dangers of buying your own silicone implants. Reportedly, a female university student in Shanghai purchased a 35 yuan – or $5.50, for those of us who understand American money a little better than Chinese money – silica gel implant, which she then took to the hospital, asking the surgeons there to reshape her nose with it.

It’s all well and good to laugh – after all, who knows what you’re buying online when you purchase a nameless, unbranded ‘implant’ – but if the doctors had not refused, this woman could have suffered some serious consequences!

You can’t just go sticking anything inside your nose, bum, boobs or cheeks and hoping it’ll plump you up without causing any damage. At Secret Surgery, all of our silicone implants are made to order, after being measured for the patient. Not only does this mean that our implants are clean, safe and reliable, but they’re also tailored to fit you. We often find patients who are asking for breast implants have asymmetrical breasts and need two different sizes of implant, anyway.

In other words, just in case you ever get tempted: don’t buy implants online! No doctor in their right minds will operate with those, because they’re dangerous, risky, and – frankly – unsafe. The Shanghai university student should count her lucky stars that her surgeon did refuse to use the implant she had bought, or she might have ended up with a painful and expensive post-op infection!

“My girlfriend and I decided to book breast implants with Secret Surgery, because we felt secure and positive with the info given to us by Angela Chouaib when we met with her for a consultation in Kent. Everything was well-organized on our behalf, including travel and flights, and we were told where to go and what to bring with us weeks before the trip.”

Great! And what about when you got here? “When we both arrived we ere taken to out hotel by Jack the taxi driver, who was great. The apartment was very ‘designer’ – up to date, spacious – we’ll definitely stay there when we go back again.”

“The next day, we were met by Aga, who picked us up and took us to the hospital for our consultation. Jack and Aga were both very polite and talkative, and they spoke brilliant English. We also met the surgeon, who was very understanding, humble and caring; we were both very glad that he would be the surgeon performing the operation. He was great with my girlfriend – making her laugh and checking up on her – and he also spoke to me personally to say how glad he was to have done the surgery.”

But what about the service you received with Secret Surgery? “Nothing was too much trouble – I had just lost my mobile phone on the plane, and Angela kindle gave me a spare one to use, which was so helpful. The nurses were lovely to me, and even took time to print me out a tram map so I could travel between the hospital, my apartments, train stations and shopping centres. The Polish people also are very helpful if you get lost!”

Are you both pleased you came to Secret Surgery? “The operation was a success! I would definitely go again soon, to have teeth veneers done. Another reason to go back: I fell in love with the restaurants, buildings and scenery out there! Thanks Secret Surgery, for making our trip perfect!”

Fancy Spicing Up Your Love Life?

ImageWe all – occasionally – feel that our love lives could do with a bit of a kick, I’m sure, but I can’t be the only one who has heard someone say “I just don’t quite enjoy it the way I once used to”. If pleasing your partner starts feeling like a challenge, rather than a pleasure, it’s maybe time to start thinking about why this is.

A recent study has claimed that women with breast implants get more pleasure in bed than they did before they had their enhancements, according to the Daily Mail. The paper also reported that US chat show host Bethenny Frankel agrees, having spoken recently about her own experiences with breast enhancements.

“After having gone from an 32A cup to a 32FF, all of a sudden, the part of my body that had always been an embarrassment to me, became something that I was proud of and could feel confident while being with a partner.” said Ms. Frankel. “It is not just about the ability to impress a man. It’s about feeling self-confident within, which enables you to enjoy a sexual experience more freely and uninhibited.”

According to a survey by RealSelf.com, 61% of women found they were having more sex after their enlargements, and 70% of women admitted their satisfaction from sex had increased. The truth is, cosmetic surgery isn’t just about feeling more confident; it’s about being able to relax, enjoy yourself, and loosen up.

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd., says that “Cosmetic surgery is all about making you feel more at ease in your own skin. Whether that helps you to perform well at work, in bed, or at home – or all three – is up to how you feel about yourself. It’s not about being bigger; it’s about being you.”

Hayden Panittiere’s Buxom New Boobs

ImageThis week, the world’s been thinking about Hayden Panettiere’s breasts; what makes this different from last week, however, is that we’re wondering why they suddenly look so buxom; has Hayden enjoyed a growth spurt overnight, or perhaps she’s indulged in a bit of surgery?

Photos of the 22-year old actress playing tennis in her bikini show her once-modest chest to looking more generous than ever. The star’s new curvy figure has attracted attention from both the press and cosmetic surgery professionals.

Dr. Anthony Youn told The Enquirer that “her breasts appear to have gone from an A to a C, judging from the photos’ – showing that even experts have got their eye on Panettiere’s new look.

Whatever the girl’s been doing, I’m impressed; her bouncy new breasts complement her petite figure, giving her some much-needed curves and losing the cutesy image she’s been known for. Panettiere’s finally looking less like the girl next door and more like the sexy young woman we’ve all known she could be.

Secret Surgery’s MD and founder, Angela Chouaib, has commented that “Hayden Panittiere’s new boobs look great, and they’ve definitely improved her figure. Whether ladies are interested in breast augmentation to reduce or increase their cup size – or just a bit of tweaking to improve perkiness – it doesn’t matter; what’s important is finding the right size that makes you look and feel great.”

Boobs, glorious boobs

before and after breast implantsBig, little and ‘wonky’. Breasts come in all shapes and sizes and their diversity is to be celebrated.

So why all the fuss about getting a boob job? One simple reason: it’s all about your happiness. We don’t just deal with women who would like to go up a cup-size; we serve a vast range of clients who elect for a boob job for numerous reasons.

It’s amazing how many people hear the word ‘boob job’ and think of vacuous silicon-enhanced celebs.  Cosmetic surgery is not about enhancing women to the point of absurdism. Here are just three reasons why you may opt for breast surgery, and no, pursuing a career as a glamour model isn’t one of them.

Number one: weight loss. With obesity levels rising in the UK, it’s an amazing feat to shed those stones and pounds. After all that hard work, you’ll feel fantastic on the inside, but what of your body’s adaptation to the weight loss? Well, many women find that putting on the pounds increases their breast size.  The downside to this is that the excess skin remains once their breasts have diminished in size.

Number two: breast feeding. Bundles of joy and boob-wreckers: yes, feeding your children au natural will have noticeable and unfortunate downsides. It’s beautiful and wonderful, but once they’ve started to develop their first teeth, your breasts may feel the pinch.

Third? Ageing. We’ve all heard the jokes about everything travelling South, but in this day and age you don’t have to be a hostage to the force of gravity. With many of us maintaining an active sex life even into old age, breast surgery can boost your self-esteem and enhance his sex drive.

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd says “Whether it’s a breast uplift, or mastopexy, all of these changes can be rectified with ease. Skin excess can be cut off, the gland lifted, and the nipple repositioned, giving you the firm and perky breasts that you once knew so well. You can opt for implant insertion during the same procedure if you choose, but the size of your breasts is completely up to you. It’s not about achieving an DD cup size: it’s quality over quantity, and your happiness over anyone else’s”.

Heartless Cosmetic Surgeons

We all remember that scene from Sex and the City where Samantha visits a cosmetic surgeon looking for breast implants – the one thing she thinks she needs to perfect her body.  Five minutes in his office and he’s penned her entire body in red showing the areas he thinks she needs work done. Not very flattering is it?

Sadly this isn’t a ‘gag’ kept for sassy American TV shows, for fans of hit UK show Geordie Shores will know just how harsh some cosmetic surgeons can be. While doing research for her new MTV show Get Thin or Die Trying, Sophie Kasaei visited a plastic surgeon to ask him about the extremes the people in UK go to in their battle to lose weight. What she didn’t expect was for said medical professional to point out so many flaws in her body – an ordeal that was obviously very upsetting for the star. (more…)

Should Surgery Become Secret?

After the recent PIP implant scare, the debate continues as to whether cosmetic surgery should be advertised. A government review of the trade will bring more answers to light later this year, and may see the introduction of a breast implant registry.

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) has been one of the most vocal bodies on the matter. They have called for increased regulation of the ‘cowboy’ cosmetic market, and ‘are delighted with the upcoming inquiry’. President of BAAPS, Fazel Fatah, explained the association’s stance: ‘aggressive marketing gimmicks…not only trivialise surgery but endanger the patient.’ This can be observed, he says, in the ‘unrealistic expectations set by reality shows’ and ‘crass competition prizes promising mummy makeovers.’

Indeed, ‘in no other area of surgery would one encounter Christmas vouchers and two-for-one offers – the pendulum has swung too far, and it is time for change.’

It is yet to be seen whether the marketing of cosmetic surgery will be curtailed or regulated. It’s certainly a controversial topic, and one that will affect the trade directly. Of course, unrealistic expectations brought on by inaccurate marketing can only end badly. Yet what of the advertisements that don’t sensationalise the trade? (more…)
