Alyson: Lessons in Lipo
Today, we’re lucky to have another of our previous patients regale you with their Secret Surgery experience. Alyson underwent liposuction with us, and is here to talk about how she came to her decision to undergo the procedure, and what it was like once she did. It’s worth bearing in mind what Alyson has to say about Liposuction, because it’s valuable advice.
“Let me tell you something about Vaser Lipo.” Alyson starts. “It is not a quick fix, nor is it for the faint-hearted. You need to know that. This is not a horror story, though – like anything you choose to do to your body – tattoos, piercings, even your hair-style, it’s deeply personal and should not be done on a whim.”
“I had researched lipo for quite some time before I even had any consultations – and I had had a few – I read testimonials and horror stories, but most of all I made sure that I knew what I could realistically achieve through liposuction.”
“I’ve never been a very heavy girl, but I’ve always carried extra weight in the same place – just around my tummy, hips and thighs. I’ve always had curves, and I’ve made my peace with that, but I wanted an extra helping hand to give me a kick start and help me achieve something closer to what I wanted.”
“Now, it’s important to remember that lipo is not about weight loss. I’m sorry girlfriend – that hard work is all down to you! It does remove excess fat cells, which can help you to define your curves, but it’s not about big losses.”
Whether it’s vanity or self-esteem, plastic surgery is all about how you feel about yourself.” says Alyson. “It’s nothing to be ashamed of. What you choose to do with your body is your own business – just make sure you have all the facts first.”
“I had three consultations before I chose to go with Secret Surgery. Not one of those three told me of the pitfalls of Vaser liposuction, and yet it’s something that you must be aware of. Take your time getting to know the procedure and don’t let anyone treat you like a walking cheque-book! If your surgeon tries to make you think they can turn you into Angelina Jolie, my advice is to walk right on out of there!”
“Angela, at Secret Surgery, asked me what my expectations were in her very first e-mail, and I was pretty much sold on Secret Surgery there and then. They were always honest with me about what I could realistically achieve, and clear about all the facts – lipo is for contouring, and it’s no replacement for the gym.”
“I worked so hard and changed my lifestyle so that I could make the most of the procedure. The full results of lipo don’t show for some time, and it can make you feel sore, stiff and swollen for some time afterwards; in fact, I didn’t hit the gym for at least six weeks after my lipo. You need to be ready for long-term commitment if you undergo lipo.”
And how did it all pan out in the end? “My self-confidence has soared since I took myself on this voyage 6 months ago with the help and support of Angela, Dr. W, Aga, and all the wonderful people who form my support group. They’ll be there for you all the way, too, if you’re up for the challenge.”
