Alyson: Lessons in Lipo

Today, we’re lucky to have another of our previous patients regale you with their Secret Surgery experience. Alyson underwent liposuction with us, and is here to talk about how she came to her decision to undergo the procedure, and what it was like once she did. It’s worth bearing in mind what Alyson has to say about Liposuction, because it’s valuable advice.

“Let me tell you something about Vaser Lipo.” Alyson starts. “It is not a quick fix, nor is it for the faint-hearted. You need to know that. This is not a horror story, though – like anything you choose to do to your body – tattoos, piercings, even your hair-style, it’s deeply personal and should not be done on a whim.”

“I had researched lipo for quite some time before I even had any consultations – and I had had a few – I read testimonials and horror stories, but most of all I made sure that I knew what I could realistically achieve through liposuction.”

“I’ve never been a very heavy girl, but I’ve always carried extra weight in the same place – just around my tummy, hips and thighs. I’ve always had curves, and I’ve made my peace with that, but I wanted an extra helping hand to give me a kick start and help me achieve something closer to what I wanted.”

“Now, it’s important to remember that lipo is not about weight loss. I’m sorry girlfriend – that hard work is all down to you! It does remove excess fat cells, which can help you to define your curves, but it’s not about big losses.”

Whether it’s vanity or self-esteem, plastic surgery is all about how you feel about yourself.” says Alyson. “It’s nothing to be ashamed of. What you choose to do with your body is your own business – just make sure you have all the facts first.”

“I had three consultations before I chose to go with Secret Surgery. Not one of those three told me of the pitfalls of Vaser liposuction, and yet it’s something that you must be aware of. Take your time getting to know the procedure and don’t let anyone treat you like a walking cheque-book! If your surgeon tries to make you think they can turn you into Angelina Jolie, my advice is to walk right on out of there!”

“Angela, at Secret Surgery, asked me what my expectations were in her very first e-mail, and I was pretty much sold on Secret Surgery there and then. They were always honest with me about what I could realistically achieve, and clear about all the facts – lipo is for contouring, and it’s no replacement for the gym.”

“I worked so hard and changed my lifestyle so that I could make the most of the procedure. The full results of lipo don’t show for some time, and it can make you feel sore, stiff and swollen for some time afterwards; in fact, I didn’t hit the gym for at least six weeks after my lipo. You need to be ready for long-term commitment if you undergo lipo.”

And how did it all pan out in the end? “My self-confidence has soared since I took myself on this voyage 6 months ago with the help and support of Angela, Dr. W, Aga, and all the wonderful people who form my support group. They’ll be there for you all the way, too, if you’re up for the challenge.”

“Personally, all I can say is ‘Thank you Secret Surgery, for helping me to change my life.”

Thank you too! We’re always so pleased to hear that people are happy with their successes at Secret Surgery, but Alyson’s story also contains some important warnings for people considering VASER lipo; it’s not a quick fix, but it can do great things – just bear your limitations in mind!

Nuala Shares ‘Second to None’ Surgery Story

Today, we’re very lucky to be able to offer you another Secret Surgery success story; this time it’s Nuala, from Edinburgh, who considers her time with us to be “the most amazing experience [she] has ever had.” High praise indeed!

“I’m a mother of four beautiful daughters, and for many years I’ve wanted a tummy tuck and a breast reduction, but I never thought I’d see it happen! I used to hate the way I looked, and so yet again I started the search for surgeries online, looking at pictures on the web. It’s then that I found Secret Surgery – and realised I might be able to make my dreams a reality!”

We’re glad to hear we inspired you with so much hope, Nuala. What happened next? “I got in contact with Angela Chouaib, the Managing Director of Secret Surgery, and found out how viable surgery with SS was – at a fraction of the price it would cost me in the UK! I realised that with SS, I could afford both a tummy tuck and a breast reduction, and for less than it would cost for one procedure in the UK!”

Wow! And what about the service you got from SS? “I had so many conversations with Angela Chouaib to put my mind at ease – and, I can assure you, she did just that. She invited me to join the SS Facebook group, and I felt even more assured after talking to ‘real’ patients that my experience with Secret Surgery would be great.”

“These were people that were going through exactly the same things as me, and I could tell this was the right thing to do. As soon as I made up my mind and paid my deposit, I could sit back and just let Angela take over – and that’s exactly what happened. I was so excited to see what would come next, and never for a moment did I regret my decision.”

“The service provided by Angela was, from start to finish, second to none. Angela talked me through everything, step by step, which quickly rules out any worries I might have had. It was totally genuine; she was both caring and professional, and I never felt like I was being pushed into things. All I had to do was turn up at the airport and fly to Wroclaw, and I was met there by Aga – a lovely, beautiful Polish lady, who took over from Angela, and explained everything to me.”

That certainly does sound like great service – we’re proud to know you feel that way. What happened next? “I was given a choice between a 4-star hotel and an apartment for my accommodation, and I chose the hotel. I was taken to the hospital for my medical, and introduced to Dr Wojciech Waclawowicz. After speaking to him, I felt even more confident about my decision; I knew I was in safe hands.”

“The care that I got before my procedure and after my ops was fantastic; the surgeon even came to see me in my private room and was there at all of my dressing changes.” We do try to offer a personal service at Secret Surgery. What about when you got back to the UK, though?

“Well, I’m back in the UK now, and I’m a very happy lady! I love the new me, and though it’s early days, as I’m stilling wearing my dressings and compression garments, I’m so excited to see the change once I’m in my normal clothes. My aftercare has continued into the UK, and I’ve loved the whole experience.”

Whew! That’s all excellent news; there’s nothing better than hearing your service is appreciated by patients. “I’m just bursting with things to say about my experience! If it helps others to take the plunge and make the decision they’ve always wanted to make – don’t be scared, ladies! It’s well worth it. I’d like to thank Angela from the bottom of my heart, for you have really helped me to make my dream a reality. I’m eternally grateful.”

It’s touching to hear stories like this; at Secret Surgery, we put our priorities on quality, care and comfort, and there’s nothing more rewarding to see it pay off. If you’ve got a story to share about your time at Secret Surgery, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Sacha’s Story: My Body Makeover

Sacha Selcuk

Today, one of our VIP patients is here to tell us about her body makeover at Secret Surgery. Sacha underwent a breast reduction and tummy tuck with us, as well as having cosmetic dentistry done while she was here.

“I went to Poland on 11th April, booked by the lovely Angela at Secret Surgery. I was booked in for a tummy tuck on the 13th and breast reduction on the 18th of April. The second operation had to be postponed while the doctors waited for blood levels to return to normal, so in between the two I had my teeth sandblasted and whitened, as well as having three veneers and a crown fitted.”

“The level of care at Secret Surgery was amazing, and the hospital was spotless. All the staff that I came into contact with were so caring; Aga and Dr. W were amazing, and Dr. W made me feel like I was the only patient there – though I obviously wasn’t. I could tell he really cared.”

“Altogether I spent one month and four days in Wroclaw, and I don’t regret a minute of it. I would recommend Secret Surgery to anyone. Thank you, Dr. W, for changing the way I feel! Although lots of people think that if they have surgery they will be happy with themselves, my advice is to be happy first and then you will truly love yourself.”

Thanks, Sacha! We’ve got more details from Sacha in the coming weeks about the separate treatments she underwent during her body makeover, so keep reading to find out how those went.

The Truth About Liposuction

ImageLiposuction is not something to take lightly; it’s a great option for hundreds and thousands of people, but signing the form to undergo the surgery isn’t just like buying a low-fat yoghurt at the supermarket.

While the media are happy to portray liposuction as an option for people too lazy to diet ‘properly’, this just isn’t true; anyone who has ever undergone the procedure knows very well that it isn’t simply chosen because it’s the ‘easy’ option. Choosing to go through with liposuction is actually one of the hardest and bravest decisions that many people can make.

The truth is, liposuction is a last resort; of course we would all rather just eat more salad and go running every week, but it doesn’t always work that way. Many women – and men – simply struggle to shift the pounds naturally, and not because of their lifestyles, either. Metabolism is a mysterious thing.

Liposuction also helps to ‘spot’ lose small amounts of weight; no matter how hard you diet, you can never choose where the pounds are going to come off. If you’re sick of always losing weight from your breasts and never enough from your bum, then liposuction is really the only solution. Of course, it’s no replacement for a good diet and exercise, but it complements your other efforts.

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd, says that “Most of the patients who come to us to talk about liposuction have already done the research, and already know what to expect from it. Unfortunately, it’s often people outside the industry – reporters and critics – who don’t bother to find out what liposuction is really for. It’s not easy, and it’s not lazy; it’s just one of many solutions to an all-too-often seen problem.”

Kerry Katona’s Looking Yummy on Celeb Come Dine With Me

ImageIt was only a few weeks ago that we reported Kerry Katona’s recent tummy tuck, when the 31-year-old celebrity underwent bot liposuction and a tuck in order to regain her figure after giving birth to a new baby.

After spending the last few weeks as a yummy mummy, some of the more critical British papers have been ragging on Katona after appearing on a celebrity edition of the popular TV cooking show, Come Dine With Me.

The papers criticised her serving of fish and chips – a British classic – on the show, so soon after undergoing her surgery. As far as I can tell, there’s nothing wrong with indulging yourself now and again; undergoing cosmetic surgery doesn’t mean you’re never allowed to enjoy anything a little bit naughty again!

Kerry still looked fab on the show; for a mum of four kids, she’s still a tiny size 8 and looking gorgeous! It’s important to maintain good eating habits after any surgery in order to maintain the effect that surgery aimed for, but that doesn’t mean denying yourself a treat every now and again.

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd. says that “It’s wonderful to see a celebrity being so down-to-earth about her surgery; no one in the celeb world has been so honest about cosmetic procedures as Kerry Katona, and we applaud her for it. As for the fish and chips? She deserves them! Good for her – she’s obviously maintaining her weight well, so why not enjoy a treat?”

Fancy Spicing Up Your Love Life?

ImageWe all – occasionally – feel that our love lives could do with a bit of a kick, I’m sure, but I can’t be the only one who has heard someone say “I just don’t quite enjoy it the way I once used to”. If pleasing your partner starts feeling like a challenge, rather than a pleasure, it’s maybe time to start thinking about why this is.

A recent study has claimed that women with breast implants get more pleasure in bed than they did before they had their enhancements, according to the Daily Mail. The paper also reported that US chat show host Bethenny Frankel agrees, having spoken recently about her own experiences with breast enhancements.

“After having gone from an 32A cup to a 32FF, all of a sudden, the part of my body that had always been an embarrassment to me, became something that I was proud of and could feel confident while being with a partner.” said Ms. Frankel. “It is not just about the ability to impress a man. It’s about feeling self-confident within, which enables you to enjoy a sexual experience more freely and uninhibited.”

According to a survey by RealSelf.com, 61% of women found they were having more sex after their enlargements, and 70% of women admitted their satisfaction from sex had increased. The truth is, cosmetic surgery isn’t just about feeling more confident; it’s about being able to relax, enjoy yourself, and loosen up.

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd., says that “Cosmetic surgery is all about making you feel more at ease in your own skin. Whether that helps you to perform well at work, in bed, or at home – or all three – is up to how you feel about yourself. It’s not about being bigger; it’s about being you.”

Keeping Things Local with Face Lifts

ImageThere’s a bit of a debate in the cosmetic surgery industry at the moment about whether face lifts should be performed with the patient under local or general anaesthetic; if you come along to Secret Surgery to have such a procedure, it’ll be done under local anaesthetic – and here’s why.

When we perform face lifts with local anaesthetic, the procedure is safer, more affordable for you, and it produces better surgery results; and I can’t think of anything else one might look for in a cosmetic surgery procedure.

Under local anaesthetic the cost of the procedure is at least 20% less than it is under general anaesthetic; you’ll avoid all the risks that come with deeper anaesthetics, and also be up and on your feet much more quickly than if you undergo a general anaesthetic.

Of course, there’s also no point paying for cosmetic surgery if you don’t get good results at the end of it all. While under general anaesthesia, our bodies have absolutely no muscle tone at all; this means that face lifts performed like this often look ‘too tight’, because there’s no muscle tone there to indicate to the surgeon when to stop pulling. Face lifts can also be ruined by potential side effects to general anaesthesia, including nausea and vomiting.

At Secret Surgery, we know how to have fun – but we’re also top professionals in our field. Our procedures are some of the best in the world, and you can rely on us to get a job done without taking any shortcuts. And it’s not just us who think so.

Emma Caston, Clinic Manager at Persona Cosmetic Medicine, says “Secret Surgery offer a first-class service with client care being their top priority. Safe in this knowledge, we now offer Secret Surgery to all of our clients; we know that they’ll be well looked after during their procedure, with the reassurance of the UK post-care being kept in-house under the direction of Dr Lisa Delamaine”.

Mary’s Secret Surgery Success

We’ve got another Secret Surgery success story today, this time coming from Mary, in Ireland. It’s always gratifying to hear that all the efforts we put in at Secret Surgery don’t go to waste, and Mary’s story is yet another example of our great results.

Let’s see what Mary has to say. “I just wanted to share my journey with you. It started three years ago, when I saw a picture of myself at a wedding, and I was wearing a size 26 dress. I was digusted that I had let myself go that much, so I joined Weight Watchers the week after.”

Great! How did that go? “Well, two and a half years later I’d lost six stone and eight pounds. I felt great, but I desperately wanted to get rid of all the saggy bits that my weight loss had left behind! So I started researching cosmetic surgeries, starting with some consultations in Ireland.”

And how did you go from there, to finding Secret Surgery? “I couldn’t afford the prices at the Irish surgeries, and it was then that I found Secret Surgery. I contacted Angela and was so impressed by her quick response, professionalism and her kindness. I had so many questions and I also had to change my dates twice! But she was considerate throughout, and for her there was no such thing as a silly question. She even called me the day before I was due to go, and we chatted for nearly an hour!”

We do pride ourselves on approachability at Secret Surgery! What happened next? I left with my sister-in-law, Valerie, for Wroclaw on April 28th, and I was so impressed when we got to the hospital. It was immaculate, and the staff we do amazing, friendly and professional. Aga was wonderful, so kind and funny – I felt we’d been friends all our lives!”

But surely the most important thing is how the surgery went? “I met Dr. W, which reassured me more, and OMG! My first operation was a tummy tuck, and I had NO pain after it at all. Just a little discomfort, and the ICU nurse was fantastic, caring and patient. My second procedures – breast lift and vaser lipo on thighs – was just the same. Painless, comforting and easy! Angela also kept in contact with me throughout everything!”

That’s great news, Mary. Are you glad you did it? “I’d have to say it was the best decision of my life! I’d do it again in a heartbeat; Angela was great, and my experience was made so much better by being there with Valerie, and meeting Sacha, another patient there at the time. We explored the hospital together, and had a great time.”

“I also couldn’t have done it without the hospital’s lovely taxi driver – Jack! I’m recommending Secret Surgery to all of my friends – and others! I’ll never forget my wonderful experience and all the friends I’ve made for life.”

It’s so wonderful to hear people having such good experiences at Secret Surgery; we go to extra special efforts to make sure your time here is comfortable, enjoyable and fun!

Marie’s Secret Surgery Story

We’ve got a lot of success stories at Secret Surgery, and barely a day goes by when someone isn’t thanking us for the way we’ve changed their lives. Today, Marie from Scotland wants to share her story with you.

“I looked at myself recently and began to wonder where my sparkle had gone” she told me. “Life had taken its toll, so I decided to take action and make the most of what nature has given me – with a bit of help. Having never been afraid to go for what I wanted, I looked into surgery.”

However, shopping for cosmetic surgery isn’t quite as simple as shopping for new clothes, as Marie knows. “I know it’s such a common thing these days, but all surgeries come with risks, and I wanted to be sure I was making the right decision when it came to the company I chose to help me do this. I did a great deal of research, but I was still unsure.”

This is where we’re proud to say that Secret Surgery come in. “Everywhere seemed so wonderful, but I couldn’t tell which reviews I could trust and which I couldn’t! I started looking abroad because the expense was ridiculous in the UK, and that’s when I found Secret Surgery. Within minutes of reading, I knew they were for me.”

“Angela – the founder – is a wonderful woman; really dedicated to helping people to attain their personal goals, thereby enhancing their emotional ones. The Secret Surgery Facebook page is dedicated to its community of cosmetic surgery patients, and this was what did it for me – I could read people’s stories and see real pictures; I knew Secret Surgery was the real deal.”

We’re chuffed to see that our personal touch is really doing its job, and making patients feel welcome. Is Marie glad she opted for Secret Surgery? “Of course! The support they offer is awesome, and there’s no pressure to make decisions; everything is easily-paced from consultation to treatment and completion. All the surgeons and clinic staff in Poland were so professional, and aftercare in the UK is excellent. Angela does everything for you! The whole experience was great, and I would highly recommend Secret Surgery. It’s as easy as getting on a plane… just do it!

Let’s Talk About Pecs, Baby

ImageIt isn’t just women who come to our surgery for procedures, I’m sure it’s not just women who read this blog. Today, let’s give the men a little attention, shall we? Let’s talk about pecs – otherwise known as pectoral muscles, those big hunky ones on your chest.

Women aren’t always sympathetic to the fact that men face a lot of pressure to conform to expectations, too; just as we might feel self-conscious about our baggy breasts, waists and legs, men can feel insecure about their figures, too. Not buff enough? Feeling a little old? We’re all human!

While lots of men opt for the same surgeries as women, like liposuction, tummy tucks and face lifts, there are also lots of surgeries designed especially for the hairier sex. One of the most popular types of cosmetic surgery for men is the pectoral implant.

With a pectoral implant, you’ll look fitter, buffer, and more attractive to the opposite sex. It can also increase your confidence tenfold, so whether it comes to chatting up ladies or performing well at work, you’ll find that pectoral implants make life a whole lot easier.

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd. says that “It’s so pleasing to see so many men come through our doors here at Secret Surgery. For too long, cosmetic surgery has been thought of as just for women – that’s not true! We’re all human, and men can feel insecure too. At Secret Surgery, we’re proud to offer help to everyone who asks for it.”

2012: A Great Year for Secret Surgery!

ImageAs we approach the half-year mark in 2012, things for Secret Surgery are getting better and better. We’re proud to announce that we’re now officially the 3rd highest rated medical travel agency in the world, according to Patient Review Treatment Abroad.

The reviews on the site are all genuine patient reviews written by previous patients at Secret Surgery, and we’re pleased to be able to report that they’re hugely positive. We can include a snippet from a review here, posted by the user ‘slimjim’, a male patient who underwent gastric bypass surgery with us.

“Angela made my dream come true.” He commented. “She didn’t push, bully, sell, nothing like that… My life is now greater than I ever imagined it could be… Angela was the person that made this happen. I will always thank her for the rest of my life. Everything she said was true. Just listen to her and follow your dream!”

Likewise, our thanks go out to ‘slimjim’ – it’s thanks to people like him, sharing their experiences with us, that means we can be proud to call ourselves the third best medical travel agency in the world.

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd., says “I am competing with companies that have been established and trading for many years, with patient reviews dating back to 2008, so it’s exciting times for Secret Surgery. I hope to be even higher up in the ranks by the end of 2012, and I’m positively focused on providing the best service and care possible, and never losing focus – making each patient feel like the only patient in the process.”

So, whatever you waiting for, gals and guys? Get yourself to Secret Surgery and make your dreams a reality!

Don’t Let Yourself Be Misunderstood…

language barrier surgery abroadIn so many ways, life is a constant struggle to communicate; if only we as human beings could somehow flawlessly understand each other all of the time, we’d probably find life a lot easier to get through without trouble.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. When it comes to surgery abroad, there are even more language barriers than in everyday life. There’s the literal language barrier that you’ll meet when you travel to a foreign country to undergo your surgery. There’s a technical language barrier, when our surgeons try to explain your surgery to you in a way that doesn’t necessitate scientific knowledge, and there’s a social language barrier – as there always is – between you and your surgeon. Can you say this? Can you ask this?

Yes! Of course you can. At Secret Surgery, we know how important it is to be able to communicate with people – and communication in the patient-doctor relationship is all the more crucial. We’ve broken down the communication barriers, so you don’t feel misunderstood when you opt for surgery with us.

Consultants are available throughout the UK, so any worries and problems you have can be brought directly to them. Our expert team of surgeons are as practised in bedside manner as they are in their own medical specialisms, and we’re dedicated to making cosmetic surgery less daunting, less intimidating, and much more… fun! As the most accessible medical tourism company in the UK, we don’t need to be told that we’re good at communication.

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd., says that “Secret Surgery’s aim is to make surgery abroad hassle-free, and a huge part of that is knowing that online support is available 365 days a year. We’re here for you when you need us – and that’s what’s important.”

You can connect with the UK team based on: FacebookTwitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, Google+, YouTube.

Secret Surgery also offers an 24/7 online support community here.

Ban the Blemishes for Good with an Extreme Makeover

face lift abroadSometimes, make-up just doesn’t hit the right spot. It doesn’t matter how much money I spend on foundation, lipstick, or mascara, or how much time I invest in moisturising; wrinkles, excess skin and asymmetrical features just don’t wear out.

It’s not the end of the world, though; if you’re really determined to look your best this summer, there are further options beyond the top shelf of the make-up aisle in Boots; scrap the bog-standard makeover rules – now we’re playing by extreme makeover rules.

With an extreme makeover, the sky’s the limit. Not happy with your nose? Get it sorted. Want plumper lips? Just a quick shot, and it’s done. Fed up of crow’s feet? You get the picture – with cosmetic surgery, you can erase all those pesky blemishes that won’t go away with anything else.

Extreme makeovers are an excellent option for women who are sick of having low self-esteem because of their facial appearance – in the 21st century, we can look however we want to look!

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd., says that “More and more women are coming in to have work done on their faces; it’s not about simply looking better, but about looking the way you feel comfortable looking. I’m pleased to know I’m helping a lot of women to feel happier in their own skin.”

Money Doesn’t Grow on Trees: Funding Surgery Abroad

ImageUnfortunately, money doesn’t grow on trees. If you’re considering cosmetic surgery abroad but worrying about how to fund it, then don’t worry – because, while we can’t point you in the direction of miracle money seeds, we can advise you about the next best thing.

First of all, cosmetic surgery abroad is often considerably more affordable than surgery in the UK.

But, despite the treatments being more affordable, you may still need a little financial help – that’s where cosmetic surgery loans come in. You can get loans for your surgery whether it’s taking place in the UK or elsewhere, and interest rates on cosmetic surgery loans can actually be very low indeed – lower than the interest rates on most major credit cards, in fact.

Of course, the usual rules apply when shopping around for your loan – look for those with lower interest rates, but not at the cost of other important things. Some finance companies will insist on choosing your surgeon for you; you’re definitely best off steering well clear of these.

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd., says “It shouldn’t be any more difficult getting finance for surgery abroad than it should for surgery in the UK – in fact, given the cheaper cost of treatment, you should find it even easier! It’s still important to be careful about choosing a solid, reputable provider of finance, though and we work with Money Solutions UK.”

Cannes Newsflash: Celeb Surgeries

ImageThe Cannes Film Festival 2012 – that’s the 65th one, to be precise – took place in Cannes, France just one week ago, and we’ve got all the hottest gossip for you.

First up, it looks like Nicole’s had her botched boob job fixed; the superstar actress Nicole Kidman had some pretty obvious botched boobs back in 2007, and she’s clearly had them re-done just in time for Cannes. Along with her buxom new boobs, a lot of commentators have speculated that Kidman’s also been making good use of fillers and Botox.

Other sources seem to think that Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria has also splashed out on a little surgery recently, with extra fillers used to plump up her face and cheeks. I’d say she doesn’t need it, but given I haven’t seen the ‘before’ pics – maybe she does!

Finally, Kylie Minogue has also made headlines, with speculations about fillers and Botox, too. This comes on top of the old news of a brow lift a few years ago – at 43, it’s no surprise that Kylie looks as good as she does with a little helping hand from plastic surgery.

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd., has said that “The 65th Cannes Film Festival seemed to be full of beautiful people, and I’m sure plenty of them have indulged in cosmetic surgery before – it’s been clear for many years that we’ve got Hollywood’s endorsement!”

Are Baby Boomers Seeking the Fountain of Youth?

ImageBaby Boomers seem to get all the press; the generation of babies born in celebration of the end to World War II seem to get all the firsts. In 2012, we’re seeing a new first for post-war babies: the first generation to fully embrace cosmetic surgery on the path to longer-lasting youth.

The rise of face and neck lifts hasn’t exactly taken the cosmetic industry by surprise, as numbers of all kinds of cosmetic procedures have been on the up for years; but once again, Baby Boomers pave the way for everyone else as the leading consumers of lifts.

It looks like Boomers are the generation to transcend the concept of ‘growing old gracefully’; while their mums and dads might have been happy to enter their sixties wrinkles and all, our pioneering Boomers are the first to say ‘no’ to wrinkles, jowls and crow’s feet – and good for them! The 21st century is for people who know they don’t have to look their age, or act it!

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd, says that “We see a lot of ‘Baby Boomers’ at Secret Surgery, all on the quest for younger looks and youthful features – and our specialists and experts don’t fail to please. We should celebrate the fact that Baby Boomers are embracing the modern technologies of today, as ever proving themselves to be one of the most progressive generations we’ve ever seen.”

London Calling: Aftercare in the UK

ImageSurgery abroad sounds great: you get to swan off to a sunny, exotic country, pay minimal prices for top quality surgeons, and return to the UK with a brand new body and bags of confidence to go with it. What could be bad about that?

What a lot of people forget is that aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself; if you come home and develop a complication, only to realise that the surgeon who performed your surgery is hundreds of miles away – what are you going to do?

A lot of so-called ‘high-quality’ clinics don’t bother to make sure you’re covered for aftercare, so it’s important to make sure you opt for a surgery that does. While, obviously, the best outcome is one which doesn’t involve any unexpected aftercare – all procedures come with some level of risk, and it’s always important to be covered for every eventuality.

At Secret Surgery, we know how crucial aftercare is; and that’s why our VIP package includes 12 months of comprehensive aftercare treatment in the UK, which covers stitch removal, wound management, scar repair and maintenance. We can also help you to arrange complication insurance with Medical Travel Shield.

“Secret Surgery works with only the best Clinics in the UK to offer a comprehensive aftercare package as well as supplying other additional complementary treatments.” says Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd.  She also warns of amendments made to the NHS’ regulations: “You need to be aware that there has been a change in the NHS, which means that if you have an elective surgical procedure privately than you must have full aftercare relating to this procedure privately too.”
