Sick of Wearing Shades to Cover Droopy Eyes?

ImageDroopy, baggy eyes are a burden to us all; I can’t imagine any woman who’s never caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror looking a little too much like a pitbull terrier; and it’s not just us! I know for a fact that men suffer from droopy eyes too – along with droopy other things…

Unfortunately, gravity makes it mark on everything, and eyelids are no exception. Too many of us end up wearing shades on cloudy days or looking a little like we’ve spent the night with a shot of rum in one hand and an all-night club entry stamp on the other.

That’s why eyelid correction surgery is all the rage; more and more women (and men!) are discovering that baggy eyes can be a thing of the past – who needs to wake up in the morning feeling like they’d be more attractive with a paper bag over their head? Eyelid correction surgery is simple, quick, and effective, and it’s the easiest way to shave 10 years off your age without breaking the bank or committing identity fraud.

If you reckon eyelid correction surgery is for you – feel free to get in touch! There are plenty of ladies here who feel your pain when it comes to baggy eyes and droopy lids. Boobs, glorious boobs

before and after breast implantsBig, little and ‘wonky’. Breasts come in all shapes and sizes and their diversity is to be celebrated.

So why all the fuss about getting a boob job? One simple reason: it’s all about your happiness. We don’t just deal with women who would like to go up a cup-size; we serve a vast range of clients who elect for a boob job for numerous reasons.

It’s amazing how many people hear the word ‘boob job’ and think of vacuous silicon-enhanced celebs.  Cosmetic surgery is not about enhancing women to the point of absurdism. Here are just three reasons why you may opt for breast surgery, and no, pursuing a career as a glamour model isn’t one of them.

Number one: weight loss. With obesity levels rising in the UK, it’s an amazing feat to shed those stones and pounds. After all that hard work, you’ll feel fantastic on the inside, but what of your body’s adaptation to the weight loss? Well, many women find that putting on the pounds increases their breast size.  The downside to this is that the excess skin remains once their breasts have diminished in size.

Number two: breast feeding. Bundles of joy and boob-wreckers: yes, feeding your children au natural will have noticeable and unfortunate downsides. It’s beautiful and wonderful, but once they’ve started to develop their first teeth, your breasts may feel the pinch.

Third? Ageing. We’ve all heard the jokes about everything travelling South, but in this day and age you don’t have to be a hostage to the force of gravity. With many of us maintaining an active sex life even into old age, breast surgery can boost your self-esteem and enhance his sex drive.

Angela Chouaib, MD and founder of Secret Surgery Ltd says “Whether it’s a breast uplift, or mastopexy, all of these changes can be rectified with ease. Skin excess can be cut off, the gland lifted, and the nipple repositioned, giving you the firm and perky breasts that you once knew so well. You can opt for implant insertion during the same procedure if you choose, but the size of your breasts is completely up to you. It’s not about achieving an DD cup size: it’s quality over quantity, and your happiness over anyone else’s”.

There’s No Need to Worry about Droopy Eyes Again…

eyelid correctionDo you sometimes look at yourself in the mirror and wonder what happened to those bright, almond-shaped eyes you remember from younger days? Drooping eyelids are something that affect us all as the years pile on – they’re nothing to be ashamed of, and yet there’s a good reason to do something about them.

Procedures for eyelid correction are easy as your monthly pedicure, and can deal with both the upper eyelids and lower eyelids (which you might think of as ‘bags’ under your eyes). Both procedures require small incisions and the removal of excess tissue from around the eyes, and the area should be completely recovered after just a few months.

Of course, we’re not the only ones who can do something about your droopy eyes – keeping away from cigarettes, alcohol and too much exposure to the sun in the mean time will help you to slow down the acceleration of your baggy eyes and regain some of the glimmer of youth.

Sometimes it’s difficult to pinpoint the areas of your face that show the most age; if you’re not sure whether eyelid correction is for you, try covering the rest of your face and estimating your own age based on the eyes alone – you might find the number’s a little bigger than you think (or would like to think).

Surgery Obsessed Superman

We all know what we would change about our appearance if we had the option. Nose, boobs, lips, thighs – for the most part, anyone considering plastic or cosmetic surgery is eager to look like the best version of themself.

Occasionally, however, the media reports bizarre stories where people opt for surgeries to transform themselves completely – into completely different people.

Take Herbert Chavez for example. At 35, Chavez underwent chin augmentation, a nose job, silicone lip injections and thigh implants. His goal? To look like Superman, complete with costume and appropriate hairstyling.

Herbert Chavez is not alone. Apparently there has been a recent spate of people attempting to look as close to their celebrity of choice as possible. If you can’t be one, be a lookalike, seems to be the new mantra.

At his Beverly Hills clinic, Dr Nicholas Chugay specialises in transforming ordinary people into celebrity body (or merely facial) doubles. He says most clients start off with some physical similarities to a well-known personality, but with a chin cleft here or some liposculpture there, he can transform them into a believable doppelgänger.

Laura Steele spent a fortune sculpting her face and body to resemble that of Cher, a singer who has had a lot of work done herself. Steve Erhard has had a string procedures – setting him back £20,000 – to make himself look like Michael Jackson.

According to Dr Chugay, dead personalities are particular popular. Marilyn Monroe is a constant favourite, as is Elvis. Chugay claims that a lot of his clients seek no financial gain from their lookalike status; they do not wish to impersonate their favourite celebrity. Rather, as Chugay understands it, the transformation is to be seen as an homage to the dead or living celebs.

Revenge Plastic Surgery

revenge cosmetic surgeryDivorce is on the rise and partners are not dutiful: these are the lines we read every day in the media. To seek revenge on your ex by having plastic surgery; now that’s a little less common. Or is it?

A growing number of women, and even a handful of men, are opting for cosmetic change to combat a partner’s infidelity.

It’s prudent to get the context right: this phenomenon is seemingly exclusive to Beverly Hills. According to plastic surgeon Dr. John Anastasatos, one third of his patients are immediate post-divorce cases.

There are, of course, many different motives behind the desire to make oneself over, but the predominant reason for going under the knife is revenge, says one patient. Elizabeth’s story is in many ways typical of the unrealistic lifestyle in California. Her husband’s confession of adultery drove her to Dr. Renato Calabria, another famous surgeon offering post-trauma surgery. He gave her a short-lived boost in the form of effusive praise and flattery, before handing her the estimate for the extensive list of procedures. Of course, Elizabeth initially wondered how on earth she was going to cough up the cash. ‘I went right home and sold my wedding ring to finance the whole thing’ she said; ‘I couldn’t do it fast enough!’

Angela Chouaib, MD at Secret Surgery Ltd in the UK, said ‘People get cosmetic surgery for all manner of reasons.  It would be wrong to conclude that some reasons are ‘righter’ than others.  Nevertheless, it is the duty of the surgeon to ensure that the patient is in the right state of mind for undergoing the procedure, and is not rushing into it without having thought things through.’

The work she underwent is confidential, as is the case with many women opting for ‘vengeance’ surgery. You see, many go on from their messy marriages to take up a ‘cougar’ lifestyle: tight-lipped about their age and surgical history, they want to date younger men without the burden of their past. They’re looking for a boost, something to pump up their self-confidence; abusive and untrustworthy partnerships will undoubtedly do that. This much is true, and there’s nothing wrong with needing a lift; physical, or emotional, we all need to feel good.

What is debatable, is whether these surgeons should be recommending therapy instead. You have to question why surgeons agree to nip, tuck and alter these women, when most are preened to perfection already. Monopolising on people’s low self-esteem should not be the business of surgery. Making sure they have the right motivation; now that’s what Beverly Hills needs.

Why Sexy Scots are flocking to Poland for Tummy Tucks

The reasoning behind why Secret Surgery Scotland has chosen Poland as it’s number one destination for Tummy tuck surgery.

Our highly-specialised professionals select a procedure with the utmost care and thoroughness. Your needs are our blueprint. Working with the use of proven, technologically advanced preparations, not to mention state-of-the-art equipment, we guarantee excellent results and full protection.

Before and after Tummy TuckOur Facilities

Concerned about foreign facilities? You needn’t be. Our EMC Specialist Hospital and Outpatient Clinic in Wroclaw has won first place 2 years in a row in the ranking of Polish private hospitals. Built in 2001, the hospital’s modern architecture, cutting-edge equipment and enforcement of international standards have allowed it to achieve the internationally-renowned ISO 9001-2000 Global Certificate. No, not the crumbling shack many cynics conjure in their mind’s eye when the words ‘foreign’ and ‘surgery’ are twinned. Let me tell you a little bit more about Tummy tucks and Secret Surgery Scotland.

The tradition of Polish health spas dates back to the 13th century. Polish spas are not only for people with health problems. It is also for those who seek peace and quiet for resting. Year round, more than 40 localities offer a gentle climate,  Poland’s medical tourism is growing. The Germans, British, Scandinavians, and Canadians most frequently visit Poland…

What is a tummy tuck (Abdominoplasty)?

Pregnancy is one thing that can leave you with unattractive folds of skin around your middle. The natural ageing process and significant weight loss are two others. A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is designed to give you back your youthful flat stomach by tightening those abdominal muscles and removing excess skin. An appealing side effect of tummy tuck surgery is that some or if not all stretch marks and existing scars are removed as part of the process.

Why have a tummy tuck?

What person doesn’t yearn to have a flat firm tummy with beautiful smooth skin? The bad news for all of us is that even with a disciplined fitness regime, you’re likely to find that time eventually takes its toll. Whatever your own reasons for wanting a tummy tuck, the decision to go ahead with this procedure needs careful consideration. We would strongly encourage you to chat through any doubts you might have with one of our team of friendly advisors here at Secret Surgery Scotland before you commit to treatment. These advisors are here to help answer any questions you have, without applying any kind of sales pressure, so that you can be 100% confident with your decision if you do eventually proceed with surgery.

Your Tummy Tuck operation

Your chosen consultant surgeon will make a neat cut just below the bikini line. The skin is lifted and this allows the surgeon to remove the required amount of fat and tissue as well as tighten the muscles if necessary. Finally, the cut will be stitched back together and wrapped with bandages.  The operation will take place under general anaesthetic , usually lasting 3-4 hours. Which means you will need to spend  a night in hospital. This is where Secret Surgery Scotland differs because we insist you spend 2 days in hospital and a further 10 days under the doctor’s control. We take after care very seriously.

Recovery

After your operation, you should plan to take two weeks off work to rest at home and give your body the chance to recover properly. Strenuous activity of any kind will need to be avoided for at least 6 weeks  after that. Feel free to use painkillers if you experience any discomfort after you leave hospital, and you should also expect a little swelling and bruising in those early stages. Try and be patient.

Cost

There’s nothing worse than unexpected charges that you don’t find out about until after the event, and that’s why we make sure you know the full cost of your surgery before you make the decision to proceed. We have a 3 tier pricing structure and it’s all there in black and white. There are no hidden costs when you book through Secret Surgery Scotland. The price you see is the price you pay!

What do I do next?

Mums tums and bums

cosmetic surgery after pregnancyThere appears to be an increasing preponderance of TV advertisements aimed at young mothers. Something to prevent pregnancy stretch-marks, or something to tone your tummy perhaps? As if mums didn’t have enough to be going on with, without preening themselves to perfection. The truth is, young mothers are big business for the cosmetic industry.

After all, it is understandably frustrating to find your body altered as a result of childbirth. So what better way to reel you in than by showing you celebrities; trim, thin and positively glowing with motherhood? But that’s not quite real life, where new mums ask whether they can go to the shops with sick on their shoulder.

Creams and make-up will continue to be advertised to worn-out women, but surgery is now getting the fattest slice of pie. Statistics show that normal treatments are yesterday’s news; mums want to go under the knife for their looks.

Are we talking about American statistics? No, but that’s a whole other story. In fact, we’re talking about a leading Dublin clinic, which recently released statistics about the Harley Medical Group’s patients. A whopping 80% of tummy tucks have been performed on new and young mothers; and that’s just this year. Mummy makeovers are all the rage, with many opting for procedures to get rid of baby weight and flabby skin. Indeed, you could opt for a complete package; a breast uplift and enlargement, followed by liposuction and a tummy tuck. They are all out there.

It’s distressing to see your body change; to not feel like the person who was frolicking around making babies just 9 months ago. However, some experts are recommending that surgery for new mums is inadvisable: the tissue on your stomach and breasts will shrink and settle down, so it’s always best to wait before opting for something drastic.

Angela Chouaib, MD at Secret Surgery Ltd in the UK, pointed out: ‘There’s nothing wrong with mothers considering cosmetic surgery as a means of regaining confidence and feeling good about themselves.  Immediately after childbirth however, there are a number of reasons why it would be unwise to rush into surgery without having first carefully thought things through.’

Your abdominal muscles will weaken, so exercise and diet may not completely rejuvenate the body, but this old-fashioned method won’t cease to exist just yet. Motherhood brings both emotional and physical changes; you just need to work out if perky boobs are the foremost priority.

Breast Reduction on the Increase

Breast Reduction Surgery AbroadThe embarrassment at being unable to find bras or bikinis of the right size in regular clothing outlets, combined with the self-consciousness that often comes with being chestier than most have led women to consider reducing the size of their breasts.

These are not the only reasons breast reduction surgery is suddenly more popular, however. A new method of breast reduction that does not involve a scalpel has recently been pioneered in the UK.

To date, this new method has been successfully performed on over 80 patients. It requires less downtime, and of course there is no scarring.

The procedure is a modification of traditional liposuction, in which a thin metal tube is inserted into the fat layer below the skin using a tiny incision.

The procedure is not suitable for women who have lost a lot of weight and have loose skin or stretch marks on the breasts, as reducing volume will exacerbate these problems. Women with a strong family history of breast cancer are also not suitable for this procedure.  For other large-breasted women however, it may be worth paying more to have less.

We’re excited to announce the opening of our newest Secret Surgery office in Manchester. The clinic offers consultations for everyone, whether you’ve already had your cosmetic surgery, weight loss surgery or dentistry or are just beginning to consider it.

The clinic will be run by Secret Surgery’s best-kept secret, Sara Bouamra, who will also be running a FREE bi-monthly weight loss and plastic surgery support group.

Her unique position as a past patient gives Sara special insight into many of the problems faced by people who consider cosmetic surgery. Sara became Regional Consultant for the North of the UK in 2011, and has continued to help many people, both men and women, to come to terms with the problems they face, and to consider the best ways of facing them.

Vat on plastic surgery soars making Medical Tourism the obvious choice!

cosmetic surgery loansNew government measures are predicted to squeeze up to £500 million a year from the cosmetic surgery industry. The VAT hike could add an extra 20% to the bills of those going under the knife for operations such as breast enlargements, liposuction and tummy tucks.
Current HMRC legislation negates VAT liability for cosmetic surgery carried out for ‘therapeutic purposes.’ However, more invasive procedures will be liable to the tax rise – adding upto £1,000 to the cost of a breast operation.
The guidelines drawn up by HM Revenues & Customs mean patients would have to ‘convince’ doctors their operation is for ‘therapeutic purpose’, and not aesthetic value. Those with conditions such as body dysmorphic disorder, meanwhile, will not be affected.
HMRC has justified the introduction of VAT, stating: “The mere fact that a cosmetic treatment may make a person feel more confident about their appearance is not in itself sufficient to make the treatment exempt.”
Industry figures have criticised the move, however, with some fearing surgeons could become bankrupt if the tax adjustment is backdated. Others believe the steep rise in the cost to consumers will push patients into foreign markets.
Angela Chouaib, MD at Secret Surgery Ltd in the UK, said: “There has never been a better time to go abroad for surgery. Vat on already overinflated UK plastic surgery prices combined with a strong GBP – Zloty exchange rate means you can have an all-inclusive tummy tuck or breast lift holiday package for £2,810. “You don’t compromise on quality of healthcare or surgeons’ expertise when you choose to travel with www.SecretSurgery.co.uk.”
The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons has also slammed the proposals, claiming that bundling treatments such as breast reduction and children’s bat-ear ops into the one category will present an ‘ethical minefield.’ Aesthetic and functional benefits, some argue, are not mutually exclusive, and attempting to draw a line between beautification and psychologically-motivated procedures will lead to a grey area in the legislature. The guidelines are currently being consulted on.

Vaser Lipo: What you need to know

We’ve all heard of liposuction, the seemingly magical solution to all of our body fat issues. Here at Secret Surgery, we offer lipo for your arms, thighs, and bottoms; those visible and fat-prone areas. These days, liposuction has too many poster girls, and yet the everyday, down-to-earth mum of four doesn’t aspire to look anything like Katie Price. We get that. Liposuction does not have to be drastic. It can simply provide you with a solution to your problems with stubborn fat and flab.

So what’s actually involved in getting liposuction?

Liposuction involves tiny incisions. These feature infusions of a special liquid followed by the insertion of what’s referred to by medical professionals as a cannula to loosen excess fat tissue. All of this enables the fat to be fully removed, leaving you with an improved body contour and a lot less unwanted jiggles. The procedure itself takes just 2-3 hours, and the recovery time is roughly six weeks.
Liposuction Abroad
The liposuction timeline:

  • At our modern facilities, we require you to stay in the hospital for one or two days following your liposuction procedure.
  • For ten days  following your procedure, you will be required to wear special and protective clothing around the affected areas.
  • For up to three weeks after your liposuction surgery all physical activity is forbidden. Happily, this includes washing, vacuuming and ironing.
  • For six weeks after your liposuction surgery, you need to massage the affected area for a full hour every day in order to ensure the best possible recovery, contour and eventual result.
  • For six months after your lipo, sunbathing is forbidden, so be sure and schedule your lipo so that you’re back to your best well before the holiday season.

After that, you should be looking good, feeling great and back to your best!

Angela Chouaib MD & Founder of Secret Surgery Ltd states “whatever your reason for having liposuction we are here to help you both medically and support and mentor you through the emotional side of body imperfections too”

The Neck and Face Lift – Everything you need to know

No one likes a wrinkled Deirdre neckline. You know the sort we mean; veiny, puckered, wrinkled; the sort of neckline that tenses and wriggle with every minor movement of the lower face. Whether true or not, you can’t help but feel as though others are helplessly fixating on the feature that you find so deeply unattractive as you stare critically into the bathroom mirror. We all want to grow old gracefully, retaining a glow and a confidence that was so easy to find in our younger days, so what is the solution? A wimple? Perpetual turtle necks? Slogan t-shirts to detract attention from our sagging neckline?

Here at Secret Surgery, we offer a range of cosmetic procedures, including face and neck lifts. We understand that everyone has the right to hide their flaws and accentuate their attributes. We know that everyone is different, and that different parts of the body – different features – can affect our confidence. Similarly, different areas of the body can prove to be a source of discomfort.

This is why our highly-trained medical team offer cosmetic surgeries abroad in the form of platysmaplasty, or face and neck lifts. These treatments can cost you up to £4, 000 less than their UK equivalents, so you can turn back the hands of time, tightening up your face and neck, but without breaking the bank.

After surgery that lasts for typically 3-4 hours, you’ll have the neckline you’ve always wanted. For a smooth transition between jawline and neckline, for a plumper, un-puckered profile, consider such procedures as a viable alternative to a life of high collars and dodging nimbly out of family photos. The recovery period is only 4-6 weeks, meaning that in less than two months you can be feeling and looking your absolute best. Feel good for less with Secret Surgery, an affordable solution to your cosmetic surgery problems.

Tummy Tuck Abroad – Patient Review

SURGERY ABROAD PATIENT REVIEWFrom the moment I arrived in Poland for my tummy tuck, everything I could of thought of was already organised. I didn’t need to worry about anything.

The hospital surpassed all my expectations and the surgeon is an amazing, you wasn’t just treated like a number each time I saw him I felt like he had my best interests in mind!! I now have the tummy I have wanted for years and couldn’t be happier.

Angela and Aga made my journey a smooth one and I can’t thank them enough. If I was ever to want anything else doing I would defiantly be returning to Secret Surgery and would recommend anyone.

From Nikki – Accrington

The Tummy Tuck Demystified

Call it what you will, the tummy, belly, stomach, abdomen (if you’re feeling fancy) can be a source of distress. We all know how good they can look, but similarly, we all know how off-putting it can be to sport a paunch protruding over a skirt or bulging beneath a tailored suit. Fat and flab on your tummy is the most difficult to hide, and, cruelly, it can be the most difficult to shift. Even if you have the time to crunch and squat, pull up and lunge down, twist and shout all day long, if you’ve had a baby or three it can be nigh impossible to get rid of that tyre surrounding your once-trim tummy. Even if you succeed in shedding the weight after multiple pregnancies,  you’ll likely be left with stretch marks as an unwanted reminder of your pregnancy.

Tummy tuck abroad

Phrases like ‘tummy tuck’, ‘abdominoplasty’, and ‘cosmetic surgery’ come with a lot of misinformation. At Secret Surgery, we believe that all cosmetic procedures should be entered into with a full understanding of the methodology and any inherent risks.

There’s a difference between a full abdominoplasty and a mini-tummy tuck (yes, such a thing exists!). A full tummy tuck or abdominoplasty involves work in both the mid and lower stomach areas, together with a tightening of the abdominal wall and re-sculpting and replacement of your belly button. A mini-tummy tuck is closer to a Caesarean, leaving a smaller scar, and involving no belly button reformation. Recovery can take up to and including 6 weeks, with some precautions to be taken for 6 months after your procedure. The surgery itself takes only 3-4 hours.

Angela Chouaib MD & Founder of Secret Surgery Ltd states “whatever your reason for wanting to remove that stubborn stomach flab we are here to help you both medically and support and mentor you through the emotional side of body imperfections too”

Designer Vaginas – All you need to know!

So it’s our biggest source of embarrassment, and one of the most uncomfortable topics around, but it’s also an important one. Our vaginas are important.

To elaborate on that bold statement, let it be said that we’re talking about wellbeing. Stick on all the diamantes you want, enhance your style with a brightly-coloured wig, but vajazzles and merkins aside, weren’t we told that it’s the inside that counts?

We’re a nation obsessed by looks, but cosmetic surgery isn’t simply about that. It can provide a solution to a problem, or a much-needed lift; and no, not your face, but a lift to your inner being.

You see, when you’ve given birth to your bundle of joy, the first thing on your mind probably won’t be vaginal muscles.  Sooner or later however, they may become an issue. These muscles will expand during pregnancy, perhaps weaken and loosen, and become something you genuinely have cause to worry about. No woman wants her sacred parts become unrecognisable, or at the very least to be significantly altered. Let screaming toddlers turn into grumpy teenagers, but please let us retain a shapely vagina at all costs.

Vaginal tightening - or vaginoplasty - is a procedure than can gives you greater strength, contraction and control. It’s a standard gynecological procedure that joins the stretched muscles in your vagina, shortening the tissue and removing the unwanted skin. Any scarring remains on the inside, and you achieve a state akin to pre-pregnancy. This can enhance your feelings of sexual pleasure.  One of the greatest lifts in life, after all, is sex. To be able to give and receive more during lovemaking is something that everyone should be able to enjoy.

Angela Chouaib MD & Founder of Secret Surgery Ltd commented “So whilst you’re suffering from sleepless nights, know they could be unsettled for all the right reasons. OK, so while no-one can guarantee all-night sessions with the hubby, but surgeons can certainly help you by imparting that much-needed lift. Don’t suffer from embarrassment or discontent when it comes to considering your vagina: there’s a solution out there that’s right for you”.
