Things to avoid before surgery
Getting ready for surgery is not just a mental process, but also a physical one. It’s important to ready your body just as much as it is to ready your mind, and a big part of this is watching what you put into your body. This includes foods, drinks, and medications. Here are our top rules to remember before undergoing surgery:
- No smoking: don’t even use patches or chew nicotine gum. The nicotine in these products could slow down your healing process.
- Avoid certain painkillers, including aspirin, ibuprofen, and other NSAIDs. These can make yoru blood thin, which might cause more bruising.
- Don’t take herbal medications, either. These could react badly with our own medications.
- It’s always good advice to avoid alcohol before major surgeries!
If you follow these simple rules, you shouldn’t be caught out by any unnecessary risks in surgery! Good luck in your pre-surgery quest for good health.

Telling all: things to tell your doctor before a gastric wrap
If you’re considering a gastric wrap like so many of our patients, you might be wondering what questions you should ask your doctor or consultant before confirming the procedure. Making sure that you’re the perfect candidate for the role is very important before undergoing serious surgery. Here’s what you need to bring up with your doctor:
- Take along some photos of yourself showing a few different angles so that your doctor can assess your suitability for surgery. The way your weight is distributed will affect your risk levels with a gastric wrap.
- Tell your doctor if you’ve had a history of yo-yo dieting.
- Discuss your racial origin with your doctor. Those of Asian origin may be more at risk when undergoing gastric wrap surgeries.
- Tell your doctor about any other serious illnesses you have, including type 2 diabetes. These can affect how likely your surgery is to go well.
If you discuss all of these things and have a BMI high enough to be considered for the surgery, you’re well on your way to a successful gastric wrap operation. Of course, it’s important to remember that there is always a risk when undergoing any kind of surgery.

Getting ready for cosmetic surgery
One thing we always tell people is that cosmetic surgery is still that – surgery. It’s a serious procedure and it shouldn’t be taken lightly. One of the best things you can do before jetting off for a glamorous surgery holiday here in Poland is to make sure that everything’s going to be ready at home when you get back.
This means prepping your home for some serious recovery time; even if you’re feeling OK when you get home, it’s always best to put your feet up and rest for a few days, to give your body time to heal and recover. This is why we recommend stocking up on ready meals or extra portions of home-cooked meals in the freezer – spending 60 minutes in front of the stove is not going to be ideal when you’re getting over surgery!
Make sure your home is tidy and that you won’t come home to lots of mess, laundry or dishes. If you’re living with friends or family, hopefully they’ll chip in to take the load off you when you get home, too.
We also recommend leaving yourself a few little extras to make your recovery time a little less dull – some DVDs and, depending on your op, a small box of choccies would never go amiss! Keeping comfy clothes or pyjamas handy will also likely come in use!
And, of course, you need to remember the important things – lots of painkillers, just in case, and the numbers of your doctors and nurses in the UK.
If you do all of this, your recovery time should be, at worst, manageable, and at best – maybe a nice bit off time off! To take the next step and receive a FREE personalised info pack and quote please visit www.SecretSurgery.co.uk or call 0843 289 4 982 or email Info@SecretSurgery.co.uk
Has Hayden Panettiere had a boob job?
We’ve recently seen some rather revealing pics of Hayden Panettiere which show her frolicking on the beach in her bikini. What we couldn’t help but notice was how buxom her breasts are looking these days, particularly in comparison to some pics taken back in 2009 when she was just beginning to become a household name.
The 23-year-old Heroes star seems to have gone up a couple of cup sizes in the past four years – and most of us don’t just grow bigger boobs overnight! She’s looking even more stunning now than she did in 2009, so we’re happy to see that she hasn’t been ashamed to indulge in a little surgery.
Boob jobs are becoming more and more popular every year, and it’s no wonder – it’s a relatively simple procedure, and who doesn’t want a nicer set? Go Hayden!
